Before/After pics of my exhaust tips

When I bought my car used last October my exhaust tips were sparkling clean. The exhaust system was installed by the previous owner only a few thousand miles before I bought it from him.

Over time my tips started looking REALLY nasty and after trying certain products on the market I was never successful at getting them to shine again.

A local forum member named GTPaul on redliners.ca told me to try BlueMagic metal polish and I figured I had nothing to loose. These before/after pictures speak for themselves!

Each tip took less than 5mins.

I washed them with a bucket of soap 1st then applied bluemagic.

Did you just use an applicator pad to scrape the junk off? If not, can you tell me what you used? Haha, my tips are 10x worse than yours.

I simply used a cotton rag to apply and remove the bluemagic.

I did nothing special. This product is insane.

I used neverdull in the past and I was able to get my tips "decent" but this bluemagic is a MUCH better product IMO.

Not sure I never tried it.

I don't see how they can improve on this product. They probably use totally different ingredients to accomplish the same outcome.

I am gonna take this to a new level and wet sand with 600-800-1000 grit then use blue magic.

They should look chrome again.

just try the blue magic, it does a great job if your not satisfied then try wet sand, not worth doing all the work if its not needed

LOL

Dude, I am the OP. I already tried BlueMagic. I still have some oxidation so wet sanding is required.

Saw my car sitting in winter storage and decided to try this Blue Magic stuff. The tips were already clean (but they just didn't shine). I have been using Flitz to clean the tips on my Racing Beat exhaust, but like I said, just no shine. I keep the tips fairly clean for the most part compared to other 8's I see. However this Blue Magic stuff worked great, good call! It blew me away!

When I had my Greddy SP2 exhaust, I read that the English Custom Polish was the best stuff in the world. So I bought the rather expensive stuff for over $30 with shipping.

I got to work on the tips. I had to wear latex gloves as this stuff is caustic, I followed the directions. Gloves, polishing cotton work into metal, micro fiber cloth buff. The results were less than stellar. It works, but it's too mild and milky and required too much time and effort, though the metal was smooth it did not remove all the tarnishing on my tips (and my tips weren't nearly as bad as the ones posted by the OP). I tried the product on two other occasions and it never really improved my tips beyond the first application.

I give the English Custom polish a so-so rating for use on the Greddy tips.

I eventually went back to using my standard polish at home, Simichrome Polish. The Simichrome works better than the Englich Custom stuyff at getting at the stains but it still didn't remove all the golden tarnish. I can't trust everything I read in here but since the OP use the Blue Magic with good results on the Greddy tips I have I'm going to give it a try with a Mother's mini power ball.

BTW Where did you buy the Blue Magic? Standard stuff at Pep Boys / Autozone?

There's a polish from Mother's that works really well, only about $2. I just wipe it on and off with an old t-shirt, works awesome... but I have to re-do it every couple weeks from all the buildup
