Talking AWJay's progress...

I don't really consider this a build thread. This is my progress on my DD, which is no track star.

After the last 6 months-ish I've been gathering a room/garage full of parts from being deployed. Now that I'm back its time to get **** done.

Parts bought/installed:

StatusRacing CF RingGT seat/installed
Status Racing harness
Nardi Deep Corn/installed
Works Bell hub/installed
Works Bell Rapfix quick release
Progress front sway/installed
Stance GR+/installed
Advan RS-D's with centers/installed
Mazda wind visors/installed
Lotek gauge pod (dash)
Shine Auto: FEED bumper
Shine Auto: Burnout sides and rear

I will be fitting the bumper/sides/rears sometime this week and send it to the paint shop, along with putting in the harness

There was a hiccup with the works bell hub that I got. I was suppose to get the short hub but they sent a normal one. (with the quick release installed the steering wheel is way to close for comfort) so that one will be for sale soon after I get the shorthub in.

Dont complain, the front will be lower tomorrow. Rear sits perfect. Rubs all to hell, but I don't mind

Hawaii now has another 8 added to the fitted community

Here are some pics. Enjoy

Looking good man.

I have a question for you, does the Nardi stick out further (meaning is it closer to you while seated) than the stock steering wheel? And if so how much?

Nicely done, looks great with the RS-D's. Can't wait to see the finished product when all the aero goes on.

It comes out abut a inch closer with the hub on there. The short hub that I mentioned is approx half the size as the one i have on there.

Sweet, thanks man. I like that wheel and was considering it for when I get my half cage welded in and get 6 point belts. Are there any hubs that are taller that you know of? I'm super tall and in the proper seating position for good pedal use the wheel is too far away from me haha.

If it's your DD, and not a track car... Why remove the driver's airbag?

I'm sure I don't need to point out that while two of the items are luxuries, the other two could save your or someone else's life.

It's just so fake. You want it to look like some sort of race car, when it's not.

I'll be curious to see how you anchor the "racing" harness.

I guess your definition of perfect is different than most. LOL!

Sounds like someone is a little sensitive on what parts I chose to put on "my" car. Please, save the whining and bitching for someone who cares.

Also I still have my horn. I could care less about cruise control and radio controls. The airbag issue. My harness keeps me from hitting the steering wheel. Obviously you have no clue how they work, my harness is also bolted in the recommended area where status said. Underneath the back seat there are two bars that you bolt a child seat to. That's where they are bolted to.

Another thing. I said my car was no track star. I did not say that I didn't track it.

Last but not least.

1. This is my car. If you don't like it. Oh well. You didn't pay for any of my parts.

2. You are acting like a child. I posted pictures of my progress to share with others and you took it as a opportunity to share your feelings and emotions like a woman on her cycle. I'm sure I speak for the others when I say you are out of line.

3. If this has helped you realize what a *** you are please Paypal me some money for psychiatric help. I hope I changed your life.

4. To everyone else. Thank you. Body and paint is soon to come. Stay tuned.

I personally think it's awesome.

Hell, if I wasn't sinking all my spare money into an Rx7, I'd love to put some new seats, harnesses and such up front for the Rx8. But then again, I do get people in the rear seats often enough, so the harnesses bolting back there might annoy them. Ah well, I do auto-x mine, plan on doing some HPDE still as well, but it is ultimately the daily.

Regardless, I've always found it fun driving like that even as a daily, in previous cars.

Awesome car.

Those seats are awesome on the track (tried them out in a friend's car a few years ago) but will kill your back on long road trips.

But I guess you don't have to worry about that in the island, haha

Im a 32-33 waist size as well. I fit very comfortably in it.
Its the Ring GT I still have a little room to spare as well.

Tip of advice if I must say...
The base that they sell wont bolt directly to the seats for the RX8 you have to get the sliders if you don't want to drill new holes.

Also, about the sliders. if you plan on using the Status Harness (not sure if its the same as other harness' out there) the eye bolts that the waist straps hook to prevent you from sliding back. So mine sits as is. I can move it up. but then i would be highly uncomfortable with the steering wheel being to close.

Another thing I will say. The shoulder area will rub against the rear door handle/driver factory seat belt.

just something to think about for you. However, I still love the seat. It looks good, its a 3rd of the weight of the factory leather seat, (driver) and its very strong.

Thank you thank you, I was going to put the autopower roll cage in but I still would have wanted to have access to the back seats and I didn't want to cut holes where the cage mounted, (just incase I needed room to take someone home or moving something) so I chose the factory bars.

Just wondering, what bike rack is it that you've got there, and what do you think of it?

He has a roof rack as well, right? Should do a photoshoot with dueling blue rx8s with roof racks. One can have a surfboard or paddleboard on the rack and the other a mountain bike or kayak. That would be a photo not yet seen here in rx8club.

Someone works at Oreillys in Mililani? I saw a blue rx8 with roof rack parked there once. Next time I'm there, I'll pass by to see if you or your brother is there. Gotta check out the goods in person. I'll be there this Sunday....

Yakima, I love it. We haven't used them much but they do come in handy

Yup, thats him, We have been talking about doing a shoot like that for about a year now.
I got a new camera now and some nice lenses so I should be fairly soon. Work cuts into a lot of our play time though.

Edit: Most Sundays he doesn't work, we live close by though.
