Looks superb!

Bankotsu 02-02-2004 05:38 PM

Wow..that looks really nice. I might just do that since there is a Classic Soft Trim dealership near me. I don't really need the moonroof.

mdsbuc 02-02-2004 07:35 PM

The leather looks beautiful. I'm wondering if they can convert seats to power as well.

RX-GR8 02-02-2004 10:25 PM

tamas that looks outstanding

JeRKy 8 Owner 02-05-2004 05:55 PM

I wouldntwant power seats in this car. It takesforever to move the seat forward and backward w/power controls so it will make it evenmore of a pain in the ass to load passengersinto the back seats than it already is w/just manual adjustments!!

umpuck 02-06-2004 01:10 PM

good work on the leather

cueball 02-06-2004 02:10 PM

The leather looks amazing. Looks really soft and supple.

If you get a chance, could you take a picture of the seat back area?

Sure... here are two:

Tamas 02-08-2004 12:57 PM

Another one...

racerdave 02-08-2004 01:18 PM

Looks great. Thanks for the seatback pics.

So how do you like them now that you've been able to put your butt in them and drive for a little while?

What's the overall verdict?

Tamas 02-08-2004 08:06 PM

I like it a lot. The leather is indeed plush and the interior of the car smells nice :D
I have not noticed that the seats would be slippery like many people said about leather... and am certainly very happy so far. We'll see how it holds up.
As I mentioned, the only thing I regret is not getting the RX-8 logo embroidered into the front seats like the following picture shows. That'd be sweet... other than that, it's just like I expected it to be.

Well, I have the same classic soft trim leather on my prelude and it really is great quality leather. After 6 years, it is still soft and supple and not slippery at all. The sides of the seat are also in great condition - no cracking. I've never had to use conditioner on my leather, but I think being garaged has helped the leather stay soft.

If I ever get the RX-8, I'm will definitely be getting the CST leather. I really think it is much better quality than alot of the OEM leather out there.

adrian-1 02-12-2004 09:51 AM

Well, I won't be getting CST leather seats anytime soon. I was quoted 1350 for all black, 200 more for two tone, and 50 more for the RX8 logo. That's $1600 total. Guess labor is more expensive at this CST location.

success07 02-12-2004 12:09 PM

IMO, Black leather seats with piping the color of your car looks AMAZING!!! Ferrari's. AstonMartin, and Maseratti have done this and it looks sooo choice!!! I wonder what the cost would be to have that done?

leegina 02-12-2004 03:01 PM

Talk to your salesman! I just dropped my car at the dealership to get the CST leather put in. They quoted me the same as adrian-1(This is also in austin) anyway total was 1000.00 given to the salesman for black leather with silver piping and rx-8 logo. The salesman told me he would give it to me at his cost which he did. He is also going to hook me up with tint at his cost, but need to take it back another day for that,I pick the car up tonight.

That seems to be a rather gross difference compared to what I paid. Including tax, my price was $1138 for the two-tone leather. Knowing that most things are more expensive in California than in Texas (including labor I suppose), $1600 seems to be way off. That would probably be the price if you'd factor in the dealer's markup should you go through them and not directly to CST. It looks like they are trying to gouge you pretty badly.
Maybe you can drive over to the Bay Area when you are making a vacation and get the stuff done in a day here :)

And regarding the piping: I don't think that would be significantly more expensive, but you might want to see how they are doing the seams in case you want piping. I asked about that when I planned my interior and the lady at CST said that the regular double-seam is stronger and more durable, especially at the edge of the seat cushion... I certainly want to have it durable rather than flashy :D

leegina 02-12-2004 03:33 PM

1395 is what the dealership charges if you buy it doing the deal (at least one dealership was charging that)I should of said stitching than piping. Also I contacted San Antonio, Houston and both told me to contact CST in Austin. I thought money is money but they would not touch it. I know when I first seen your post and your price and then heard what they wanted I wanted some vaseline at least but that is what they want here and no other choice but going through Katzkin and doing it yourself or paying around 12-1300 for their install of basic leather.

CCarlisi 02-14-2004 10:33 AM

VERY NICE.

Overport 02-17-2004 03:33 PM

very impressive...worth the wait

shazusa 08-14-2004 10:56 PM

This may be a silly question, but do they do any work on the steering wheel that you know of. I kind of like what Mazda does with the two-tone scheme on the steering wheel.

Nemesis8 08-14-2004 11:46 PM

Nice ride - looks awesome

Rob Tomlin 08-15-2004 04:27 PM

I really like the look of the black/red leather combo, but I worry about the red leather fading over time (red likes to do that).

Someone was curious, so I took a few pictures about the leather as it is now.

This is how the leather holds up after more than six years... I think it's not bad.
I only treated it sporadically with Lexol, but not very often.

rodjonathan 03-05-2010 03:26 PM

damn that looks really good after that long!

Rotr8 03-05-2010 03:45 PM
