Accessories available in Japan
TONS of Accessories and options available in Japan - why don't we get any of the good toys? I have about 66 images, I don't know how many I can upload at a time I'll upload some I thought were interesting. Ok I can only upload 1 at a time.
"RX-8 Embedded" shifter. |
This is nifty too. Looks to me like it's remote keyless handsfree entry. Friend of mine has a Mercedes SL55 and he carries a card in his wallet - when he gets near the car, it unlocks his doors. he has just to push a start button when he gets in the car. pretty sweet.
|
If it's a handsfree entry system why does it have lock/unlock buttons on the card?
|
My friend's has lock and unlock buttons on his as well with his Mercedes. he has to be near the car with the card in his pocket, he touches the car and it senses the card+touch and opens up the car.
I suppose if you are not within range of the car as you have to touch it (at least on the Mercedes version I've seen) to open the doors you can unlock and lock it without actually touching the vehicle. |
So in neither case is it 'hands free' then?!
|
yeah i guess it's hands "reqired", but you don't need a key to start the car (the mercedes version at least), so you'd most likely require the nifty illuminated start button! the mercedes start button is in the center of the shifter knob...
|
Cute! :)
|
oh yeah, and I know some people were asking about the Rotary Accent Package...
|
Keep posting the PICS!!!! I love the start button
|
ok, I'll keep posting... some of this stuff I don't know what exactly it is, so you'll have to make deductions on your own, and I haven't found a way to get all of these images into one image, so forgive me if I'm posting like crazy, but this is just cool stuff...

Electronic Vehicle Jack - I'd love to have one of these for my Ford Explorer - I was cranking for like an hour to get that bad boy off the ground....

Silver Rearview mirror, some little electronic thing I'm not sure of, side view "mazdaspeed" mirror, "rotary" tire valve covers, "rotary" cellphone strap maybe???
|
Standard (non-backlight) leather wrapped shifter knob, wood-grained door console, I don't know what the red thing is ???
|
Final post - promise...
"RX-8" rear window sun deflector, traditional key fob, remote engine start unit, some strange remote controller embedded in the automatic ??? |
Yeah Gamera, the drop-downs were a mess. I figured I'm off today so I had nothing better to do than try to navigate the Japanese mazda site. It proved to be quite fruitful.
Wish I understood what some of that stuff was though. Like zoom44 was asking about that strange looking device. And I'm hoping we can get that suff in the states. I'm digging the led-shifter & the led-start button, and the slim door unlocker and the rotary keys & valve covers and it seems as though my wish list goes on and on... we'll have to wait and see what will be available. |
Are those shift-paddles on the steering wheel? Those aren't standard on the slush-box are they?
|
Trip, great find! I gotta believe most of these items will find their way to America & Europe.
After all, Mazda believes half of their 1st year sales will be coming from us Americans. |
forgot one. This was labled as "HDD" I imagine that's for Hard Disk Drive. not really sure, anyhow it has more buttons on it...

i love the rear sun deflector and chrome stuff....those rotary valve stem covers are just waiting to be stolen though. i ended up buying 5 sets of chrome valve covers for my car, before i just gave up and left stems "naked".
thanks for all the pics by the way santino |

The toy to HAVE is still the Rotary Key, I think. So Sweet.
The Coloured Rear view mirrors are also very nice, depends on which exterior colour you have chosen. |
The two pads joined by wire might be static electricity release pads (have them on the MX-6 and they were on the MX-3). You touch them before you get out of the car and they prevent you getting those occasional static shocks from the body work.
The small black platic dots on the body i believe may be parking sensors as they seem to be mounted on the bumpers. The first in dash screen looks like it is Mazda's new 3D navigation system rather than a DVD player. The second in dash screen one looks like an even more advanced version. Any body know anything about the replacement spring and damper sets. Must haves for me, LED Gear knob, Vent Fins, Rotary Accent Package, Chrome Rearview Mirror, Chrome Exahust Trims and Remote Start might be fun. |
Originally posted by tripwire LED Backlight Shifter Knob (must have) Come to think of it, does anyone ever actually need to read the gearknob to know where the next gear is? Personally, I'd go for the rotor-shaped knob instead. |

I think the led gear shifter is simply "cool factor" it adds to the mystique of the RX-8 in my opinion. The interior is so unique I feel the lighted shifter just adds to the ambiance of the cockpit.
I'll actually be looking at the shifter quite a bit considering the reverse position is in the opposite position of my current reverse position :) And I'm getting a red interior, it just fits. then again, it's going to come down to cost i'm sure. it would make a great stocking stuffer. |
trip- i've been all over the japanese site for about a half an hour where is the page where you got these pics? or are these scans from a hard copy?

I really want to know where the Start button is placed. If it goes where the key is located where will the key go.
The led shifter is also a must have. |
