power only gets you so far. that rear spoiler is garrish and awful looking. the front head lights are all over the place but i do like the front air scoop. i'll take your 8 hands down although since i have an 8 also i might be just a little biased.

The STi does look nice (minus the ridiculous spoiler) and is very powerful...
However, the RX-8 takes it hands down when it comes to the elusive "pimp factor".
While waiting at a stop light, the guy in the Corvette next to me pointed my 8 out to his girlfriend... that's what you call pimp factor :D

I dont know why you guys dont like STi or its wing? It's a bit large, but still, it's not like wing makes that much difference in styling. The STi sure has gobs of hp and torque, but styling on 8 is better.

Can you say butt ugly? I personally can appreciate the car to drive, but wouldn't buy it for many reasons including I'd be ashamed to be seen in something that looks in the front like smthg that has metamorphesised from a laval stage insect, and a basket handle spoiler SO big, and SO high that I worry I'd be mistaken... I'm not sure for exactly what... but it isn't pretty.
It's one of those things that you say, "I can't tell you what ugly is... but I CAN tell you THAT is it!".
PS. The wheels are awesome though!

Yeah, I give him crap about the wing too. You soon forget about that wing back there when you're feeling the pull from that 300hp engine!
I'll keep the 8 any day though

For some reason the STI (& the EVO) remind me of one of my good old high school "buddies", Freddy.
Freddy always wore stuff like an undershirt & blue jeans & sneakers or shop shoes - usually dirty & smelly. His hair was always unkept & matted. His breath always would stop a freight train in its tracks.
Freddy never showed much of any sophistication about anything. Anything except for cars & engines & trannys & brakes & rear ends (of cars) & oh yeah, getting drunk or high.
Freddy never had a girlfriend. Never seemed to really want one much. Sure, he stared at the nice ones, giggling & elbowing & stuff like the rest of us, but he never tried to actually get one.
I'll bet Freddy wants one of these cars. If Freddy was a car, he would probably be a lot like one of these, except not a new one, maybe one that's about 3 years old & not very kept-up. There's gonna be a lot of Freddies in 3 years, my guess.

Does the wing on the STi hit the C-pillar when you open the trunk?
Or, can the trunk be opened at all (too heavy)?

Would you guys say the RX-8 has as much room on the inside for the front driver/passenger as the STi? I've sat in a WRX and im about 6'2" and that is as small as i'd want to go. I like the RX-8, but im worried about the room inside.:o

Wow...what hostility??? This board seems to really have become close minded.
Anyhow, I went with my friend shopping for a WRX yesterday and we went to three subaru dealers. There were a lot more STIs than I thought (3 at two and 1 at the third) so they either just got an allocation or aren't selling that well (though in this economy, cars in general don't seem to be selling that well). I will say that the STIs looked pretty good, better than the WRX.

If one of my nieces or nephews were to ride home in a WRX, EVO or STI, I would be very happy for them. And I would love to show them how it works...:D
