04-29-07 Nurburgring Pics (lots of them)
 

Here are my pics of this past sunday on the Nurburgring, it was a fun day. We went up to the track with my 2004 Mazda RX8, 2002 Subaru WRX, 2002 Pontiac WS6, 2000 Honda Integra Type-R and we only returned with 3 out of the 4 cars.

Before I post all the pics I'll explain what happened to one of our cars. On our third lap we had some friends filming one of the turns. So we decided to leave the gates at the same time and race to where they were filming. In this lap all of us were pushing our cars to the limit pretty much. We go past where they were filming and we continue to battle to see who will finish first. Its mostly me and the WRX that are bumper to bumper thru the turns and the type-R is a bout 2 to 3 cars behind us the whole time.
We come to this set of turns that include a hard right up a hill to a blind drop to a sweeping left. I know on this turn to slow down a little to get to the outside so you don't hit the side of the road for the sweeping left.

his tire dropped off the side of the road and he started to slide right into that wall

he spun during this and remember I was on his ass during the turn. I came about a foot from hitting there front end when they were spinning in circles from the wall impact. All I did was hit the gas and they heard me do that from inside there car.

OMG. You saw the new skyline? How did it sound.

It had a nice growl to it, we followed it back to the warehouse where we had some guy try to take my camera for taking shots of it.

those f430s are so sexy

Was it a special event? Or just a weekend track day? Did you go out with a specific group that organized the event / track day? I WANNA GO!!!!

How was traffic on the 'Ring with that wide variety of vehicles?

Holy WOW. First, that turn where the WRX went off is a whole lot of brick-laden off-camber goodness, ooch. That red Type R 'teg was like my all-time 16yo dream car in 1999 :rofl:, very nice. How many 8's did you see? Was parking on the track there for that long a good idea??

And WOW at the Skyline pics, awesome find. Worst hidden development car ever, good job!

Awesome pics, I can't imagine trying to learn a track with that many corners. My local road course is only 1.53 miles long!!!

I would have jizzed from seeing the GT-R.

OMG I am so unbelievably jealous. My dream is to drive that track. I practice on Project Gotham weekly. That is one nasty turn where you friend wreck, so sorry :(. Those Ferraris are sexy but that 911 GT3 RS makes me drool...... And did I see the ring taxi was a friggin M5!!!!! Germany definitely does it right in my opinion!!

That NSX is pretty sweet too. That is an amazing sampling of cars. We miss alot here in the states.

why does that civic funky? im guessin its a conversion?

+1 - the Ferrari and the 911 are incredible btw. So jealous.

I was still able to run a mid nine with all the traffic


that brick stuff is what his back tire dropped off of. I went to the outside of that turn and he went to the inside and lost control. and slid in front of me and hit the wall.

The parking on the side was ok because I put out the fire that was underneath my friends car from the impact.

That Civic is the 2007 Euro Civic Type-R

ok, i am better now, wow, you are one lucky SOB. I would have been on automotive pr0n overload. the green GT3 RS was cool, but all of the cars from Stuttgart would have had me in a coma. And to be able to drive the track, even better.

I have 12 laps on this course and lots of time on GT4, as of right now I know the whole course like the back of my hand.

The ring is my all time favorite! I run it daily.......that would be on my PS3! I love that track on GT4, i ran a 5:29 in my 1989 Saber Mercedes closed prototype. Balls to the wall speed and handeling! :ylsuper:

My goal is 5 minutes flat! :)

Thats good I think I squeezed out a 9:20 on one lap and was on the way to a high 8 minute lap when my friend crashed his car

Sweet! New GT-R pics! Lucky bastard! Why would they bring out their super secert prototype when a huge track day was going on?? Kinda odd thaty Nissan would do that.

I didn't even know Pontiac sold cars in Germany, I just assumed that people would regect them! Is it uncommon to see many Pontiac's or Chevy's there?

It was probably brought over by a soldier stationed there. I have heard that Germans will pay top dollar for soldiers brought over American muscle cars.

The New GT-R wasn't brought out for the regular track, my guess they were just testing it on the formula 1 track and we got lucky to see it driving back to the warehouse in between.

The Track day was just another normal sunday at the Ring.

The Pontiac WS6 was brought from the states and is owned by one of the Engineers I work with at work.

The owner is American and we aren't in the Military

you rana mid 9? Thats pretty good. But the one thing I forgot to say on page 1 is how UGLY the new Civic Type R is. Jesus, its worse than the Corrola T Sport contraption Toyota through out a couple years ago. :rofl:

Vague. Alright, I'll bite. What are you guys doing over there and did your friend bring the car with him, import it, or buy it there. As this is a forum and I can not gauge your facial expressions, am I to assume that you are some how upset by my implication that your friend might be in the military?

Not to mention it is a bit of a PR stunt runnin the GT-R around the Ring also.

I wasn't being vague I was just saying we aren't in the Military over here. We just do U.S. Gov. Contracting Engineering work. His car was brought over here when he moved here and its still on the U.S. system thats why he has the Military plates on it.

I only snapped 4 shots of the Skyline they were the 2 you saw here and two of when we were driving behind it. I could not get any more shots of it because I had some guy from Japan that chased us out of the parking lot.

hahaha! I wonder how long it will take before this ends up on autoblog, jalopnik, or left lane news?
