**HKS D1 Limited Edition Shift Knob**

4 Attachment(s)
I picked this shift knob up about a month ago but I finally got a round to taking pics of it. I've been through about 6 different shift knobs on all my cars but this one is my favorite.

This is the same shift knob that Nobuteru Taniguchi uses in the HKS S15.

The overall feel of the knob is very comfortable. My shifts feel more confident and direct. They come in two colors: White/Red and Black/Red

If you have BLK/RED interior it would go perfect in your ride. There are only a few left so if you want one order it now!!!

It looks really cool at night. When the dome light is on all you see is the HKS Red insignia glowing straight at you. This is also a "True" 6-speed shift knob. The label says so itself! Enjoy.

the shift knob looks like a ball. i like the rotary shift knob anyway
but if it's can push to start the engine. i might consider about it..
ha ha.. :p i love to press to start car.anyway....

hmm that does look good, and i always like limited edition stuff... it might be time to get ymself a new shiftknob...

Not bad.

But even with all the cool aftermarket shiftknobs out there, IMO you just can't beat the stock rotary shiftknob for the RX-8.

Some people don't like how it feels. I like the flat back end of the stock shift knob because it is perfect for pushing when shifting to third, and the top fits right between the joints in my fingers when going to second.

It's a little awkward to hold, but it shifts well if you do like you are supposed to and don't hold it while shifting.

the label on the top of the knob actually acts as grip..to tell you the truth, I actually slipped twice when shifting while using my stock knob...

got the knob after testin it out on deedubb's car. it feels great i drove on it for 5 minutes and it felt pretty natural. i feel better speed shifting on this than the original knob, although i am gonna miss it. it's okay the rotary knob is gonna have a nice home in my buddy's FD.

hey deedubb btw what did you use to get the sticker on? did u use the sticky black stuff that came with it?

XDEEDUBBX 09-15-2004 01:00 AM

you just have to peel the back sticker off the back of it...i hope that made sense..hahaha good shit superbad...man i love this knob...i feel more confident with every shift...i'm glad you chose the knob!

sup3rbad 09-15-2004 02:29 AM

thanks for the help deedubb, did u jsut screw it in or did u take out the shiftboot and put the nut ir before that and then put the knob in? (did that make sense?)

XDEEDUBBX 09-15-2004 02:54 AM

just took off the stock knob and twisted the new one in... pretty staright forward...

Nice! Thanks for posting this deedubb! I've been getting pissed at my shift knob lately coz it's hard for me to shift even when not speeding. I want a ball knob now and this one looks like the perfect candidate.

BTW, does our shifter accept pretty much every M/T shift knob out there or is there a specific size for it?

Standard size.

Most gearknobs come with inner sleeves so you can tailor fit it to your car.

Back to the HKS gearknob, looks good, very ergonomical design but not my cup of tea.

I much prefer Greddy: http://www.hopupracing.com/gralshkn.html

pretty much i think it does...it is the standard size... to me, this knob actually makes shifting a little easier than the stock knob even when driving slow...

I've been looking at that Greddy knob too but I wasn't sure what size I could buy to fit my shifter. Is it M12?

Nice shift knob. It would probably look weird in my Ti Gray. I really want the Veilside knob. :)

Most Mazda manual shift knobs are M10x1.25. The HKS shift knobs are available in 3 different sizes (M10x1.25, M10x1.5 & M12x1.25) to fit most Japanese vehicles.

McJones 05-10-2011 04:57 PM

It looks like they don't have the mazda knob on the HKS site anymore?
