where are the 08s?

It looks like the rumor of the 2008 facelift might be correct, but we're thinking of model year, and the rumor is for the actual year they're being built. e.g; Built in 2008 for our 2009 model year. So no face lift for another year.

Typically when a mid life change like this comes at Mazda they skip a model year. There probably won't be any official 08 RX-8's. There will be 07's and 09's Mazda previously did this with the Miata as well.

hi all.
I'm from s'pore and our official mazda importer told me that the facelifted RX8 will be sold in the 1st half of 2008.
And hence, i was told to wait.
Wonder what changes there'll be? ....
Here, we don't have GT spec and so on ...

From what Gomez, others and myself have sourced from Australia, the only 2008 models will be the 40th Anniversary ones, scheduled for production anytime from Thursday on-wards, close down in RX-8 production Xmas time until April 2008, with the new face lift RX-8 available here in May 2008, for your US model year 2009.

So we also have this information confirmed also from 'swiftboy' ^^^ in Singapore.
So that is 2 separate countries so far saying the same thing.
Pretty safe bet!

Just received the 08 brochure as well. Funny thing, if you look closely at the photo in the back with the 40th Annv. the wheels look like a bad photoshop job. Totally flat. Makes sense though since the photo they had to work with came with the 18" stockers, so they just chopped the wheels on and the new color.

no because we were all forgetting that when any year and mazda are mentioned it means in the actual year- 2008 means IN 2008- not in model year. we tend to think in model year so we all were thinking we would see the change on the 2008 MY cars now. wait until aprilish for production cars with the changes. pic most likely in feb or march.
