"How about this. We all just be satisfied with our car purchases. I prefer to look at the intangible qualities, for instance, the [rx]8's uncanny ability to get you laid. Seriously, I was a virgin when I bought the car. Took a week and a half." - Rootski

From the article-
"We're talking about cars that are so entertaining that you'll forget all about the empty seat next to you."
I think the point of the article is not cars for people who are incapable of getting a date, but rather cars for people who would enjoy the drive and car, rather than just use the car as a means for getting from point A (home) to point B (restaurant/hotel/rabu-hoteru/etc...) and would enjoy a spirited drive by themselves.

I will have to say that I have had some hot cars in the past that got a lot of attention. The attention was from other gearheads (mostly guys) drooling over my car. Since I have had the 8, I have had wemon stop me in parking lots (who didn't know a thing about cars). I have had wemon talk to me at the gas pump, and the other day I happened to park next to a 350Z and she started flirting with me. The 8 will help you get a date. Warning, she won't be after your mind.

i dunno.. i think i'm overlooked when i arrive at the parking lot and there's the guy with the 350z, the kid with the corvette, and the other guy with a 330ci hopping out... at the same time. but at least i'm the guy with the unique ride rather than the drone in a 350z/g35

God i hope my wife doesn't read these forums......lol

Funny...my wife doesn't like to ride with me in the 8 because it (or maybe I) scares her too much. I've had my car for over 2 years and STILL have yet to take it on a twisty drive to the ocean. Someday, I think I will have to just go by myself...

Maybe it's the color or the friendly way the car smiles, but you sure get a lot of people who use it as an ice breaker to talk to you - And I have yet to escape anywhere without Mom, My-Sister-the Troll, my Neices, neighbors kids, that sweet old widower down the road. etc., etc. filling up the seats! And it passes the 4 fat ladies test where you load in 4 fat ladies in and see if it can climb a hill slowly - Once had a Chevy that couldn't do that!

I guess the article is true...

Well, I met up with a date a few nights ago and it is was pretty flat and unexciting. But I can tell you the 10 minute drive home was much better than the hour spent over coffee. One day the extremes will balance out... one day.

couldn't have said it better myself.

I dont get much attention because of the 8, but I live/work in pharmaceutical row in NJ where everyone seems to drive a "nice" (read: expensive) car

I would just like to say that sadly BECUASE of the 8 I now drive solo. no just kidding, I'm single because she sucked at life. And considering I'm in Jacksonville NC (the one city in the country where fat chicks can be picky) I've had a hard time finding a hot date to fill the seats. Working on it though. I've had the seats filled and given a few "rides" but desperate times calls for desperate measures.

Its all relative. I bet guys who drive beater a*ss hyundais say... "oh if i had an rx-8 i wouldnt be lonely on a friday night".

Its all about the levels. In the RX-8 im not picking up chicks who also drive cars like this... im picking up girls in civics and corrollas. It doesnt matter to me, they can be hot and driving a geo... i'd hit it.

relativity is indeed, of the essence. However...everything in life is always relative to something...which makes my post completely and utterly pointless.

hmm...what an irony.

I was at the gas station and a guy started to chat me up about the 8. I think it gets more attention for gearheads, guys or girls, than non gearheads.

My wife likes the car but I still make her nervous. Generally I think the idea is it's a better car to be the driver than the passenger in.
