I just picked it up(sorry no scanner) and I am not happy. They turned it into a full on track race car, which is ok, but both the engine bay and interior have been completely butchered. Its not really an RX-8 engine, and the only thing that can translate to a streetable car for the average driver is the body kit. Oh and its ^^^^^^ a N/A car on the cover of Turbo Mag. OK im done ranting, dont roast me too much.

Looking forward to reading the article. Too bad they could not do it with a 100% renesis motor.

the thing is that the renesisi is define by the potition of its ports, to get power out of a rotary engine you have to mod the ports, so it is a renesis engine with its side ports closed and pports. In the past when you made a 13b-REW into a pport configuration it was still a 13b-REW
so it is a renesis with peripheral ports
so it is a renesis with peripheral ports
gives us n/a guys some hope.

Both Mazdatrix and Racing Beat say 300 HP n/a rotaries are easily achieved. The problem is they won't idle below 3000 rpm and only run on race fuel! Racing Beat thought (and still does think) that Mazda did a very good job with this engine compared to every other n/a rotary ever built up to this point. Hell, compared to the issues which plagued the FD twin turbos, this RENESIS has been amazing... aside from the tendency to lose compression and need replacement before 60k miles. Oh well, I guess we can't have everything!

BTW- JIC-Magic USA is building an RX-8 time attack car with a turbo 13B-REW in the bay. Jon's got an eye for a few lap records with the car! I've laid eyeballs on it and oogled its mightily-modified suspension. I can't wait to cover it for a magazine!
