remy117 09-29-2007 01:05 AM

cant wait---!! thx for the heads up =D

tho anyone know if the current mods (exhuast, audio equipment, etc) will continue to work on the redesign?

auzoom 09-29-2007 02:09 AM

lol there is NO Details on what it looks like let alone specs, so how is anyone going to know for sure if anything will fit.

CyprusRX8 09-29-2007 07:19 AM

What date is the Tokyo Motor Show?

bulletproof21 09-29-2007 07:26 AM

october 20th-23rd i think?

Spinning Sushi 09-29-2007 07:42 AM

Damn... this is going to make me feel like my 8's outdated...

mysql101 09-29-2007 07:44 AM

^ who knows. It might be something you can do on your car with an aftermarket kit. Or you might not like the new design. Either way, you've got another year of having the "current" rx-8.

Spinning Sushi 09-29-2007 07:45 AM

That's true. By the time that comes out, I'll have my MS kit on :)

Endgame 09-29-2007 08:56 AM

Does anyone know if this is a complete remodel or just a refresh, similar to the Z's refresh? A refresh would make more sense, then release the 'brand new rotary' with a complete remodel or new car. I guess the restyle does not interest me as much as the new rotary in 2010/2011.

are you kidding me? imagine what the RX-8 would look like with a new shade of gray. I can't wait.

MP3Guy 09-29-2007 09:08 AM

All they have to do is primp up the front and rear valences for a freshening up. The rest of the car probably stays the same- cheap, effective, and you get some ink for an aging model until the next one comes along.

Clavius 09-29-2007 10:41 AM

Watch.. all we are gonna get is new head lights and tail lights lol.

Sorry my bad! How could I have possibly overlooked that!!!!!!

yawn...

DOMINION 09-29-2007 11:55 AM

^LOL We have every color in the Pantone color system. Mazda has to think quick. IMO its going to be something that will not let us down. Can't wait to see.

zoom44 09-30-2007 12:26 AM

facelift not redesign. rx-8 1.5 not rx-8 2.0

DOMINION 09-30-2007 01:18 AM

1.5 as in Engine and face lift? or verson?

Looks like the new 8 will be available from May June 2008. In Australia.

zoom44 09-30-2007 01:26 AM

oh jesus- i thoguht that was plain and easily undestood.

THIS IS JUST A FACELIFT NOT A REDESIGN OF THE WHOLE CAR

bulletproof21 09-30-2007 06:48 PM

facelift guys, facelift. The honda s2000 got a new front bumper after a few years. The previous generation of mitsu. eclipse got a new front bumper after a couple of years. The fd continued production in japan after 1995 and got a slight redesign...new front bumper and new rims and spoiler. Look for minor changes.

The S got more than just a new front bumper...add .2 liters, new wheels, headlights, tailights, exhaust, and interior, just to name a few. I see your point though.

I'm anticipating the refresh for one reason only...RETROFIT! Especially if it get's LED tails.

DOMINION 10-01-2007 03:11 AM

^Them things bug me eyes

lov2bugu 10-01-2007 09:18 AM

will this is kinda sad

http://www.autospies.com/news/Mazda-...evealed-21145/

i c no change in that one, i wonder if they will go further than a special edition. the z got a new hood and new leds back and front. come on hint womthing

zoom44 10-01-2007 10:23 AM

Are you saying you do not like my Ti? :)

Gotian 10-01-2007 10:46 AM

The new color will be phantom gray, outside in daylight it will look gray and then when its night and you have post lighting it will look grey! YAY the spelling changed!

shaunv74 10-01-2007 01:16 PM

My vote is Mazdaspeed nose is now standard...

Floyd 10-01-2007 02:27 PM

The updated RX-8 will be able to transform into a 2-story tall robot :D

This got me thinking.. what if it looks akin to the shown but never made Mazdaspeed v2 kit? I know the fenders where a love or hate it but the front bumber everyone seemed to like/enjoy. I dunno again just thought of this and figured I'd toss it out for speculation.

This could actually be true as Mazda Japan has taken off their RX-8 M'z Tune off their website

Renesis_8 10-01-2007 07:15 PM

could be, but it wont look very aggressive (mazdaspeed). Just think the restyle for the Mazda 6 recently, there wont be much changes.....

just look forward to the 15B that'll go on display.

magikone69 10-01-2007 08:22 PM

some things id like to see (Not necessarily all of them)

-different bumper and matching appearance package
-new rims
-different spoiler option
-different headlights with possibly dual projectors
-non altezza looking tail lights with LED's
-Re tuned stereo with a better EQ
-Larger Stock Muffler tips
-Stock oil protector screens
-rear bumper with real mesh inserts
-change the GT appearance package....front lip that flares out at the edges and slim in the middle...long side skirts (think mazdaspeed), and a slightly more pronounced 2 piece rear kit.

3 new colors....a midnight purple (350z style), Brazen Orange/Burned copper type color, and bring that black pearl that was only available in europe, that color was sick.

my wish list lol, not that id buy one tho but sure would be nice to see some on the streets...all the rx8's i see now are just so bleh...unless they are BB...those always look good :-)

Nemesis8 10-01-2007 09:53 PM

The gauges are what need facelifting IMO - freakn' idiot gauges :banghead:

Rootski 10-01-2007 11:56 PM

If they give it a facelift is anyone actually seriously considering "upgrading"?

remy117 10-02-2007 01:49 AM

perfect chance for those on leases =D

Gomez 10-02-2007 04:18 AM

I don't know what Americans mean when they say "facelift, not redesign", but how would you describe a car that can be identified as an RX-8, but look nothing like the current car?

What if it it had more than 200 changes? How would you describe the car if it had (nearly) all new sheetmetal?

Floyd 10-02-2007 10:53 AM

I think you'd have to call it the 2nd gen RX-8. Just like the late 1st gen RX-7s with the same 13B as the 2nd Gen RX-7s.

Most aggravating thing about the 8 by far.

I consider a redesign a new chassis and engine with accompanying new sheetmetal and interior. E.G: FD to RX8 or FC to FD.

I consider a facelift/refresh cosmetic changes or minor increases in performance of the existing motor and chassis. Like FD to Efini FD.

mysql101 10-02-2007 11:36 AM

That's the only thing I would worry about. I don't want to become the 1st or 2nd gen RX-7, or the earlier Supra .. quite undesirable in the market and not easily recognized as part of that model.
