as awesome as the rx-7 was; i would find it retarded if mazda re-releases the rx-7.

if you look at all the rx models they follow a sequence

rx-2,rx-3,etc..

idk to me it would seem stupid to go backwards, rx-9 seems to be the most logical thing to do. dont get me wrong i love all rx-7 i have owned 2 fc, but it's time to let it go! and unto the future awesome rotarys!!!!

Mazda already had a RX-9 if I am not mistaken.

well maybe it's an omen that the next RX would be a "sedan" as well, I like the 4 doors.

I could have sworn the "X" in RX stood for Export and not Experiment. The X in 16X is prolly experiment though.

I thought the rotary cars got tagged RX when it hit the states... Then it just caught on and stuck.

people argue the meaning of the x in rx forever. but the reality is that initially it was just an x. more recently mazda has adapted is its naming convention to include the x for sportier fare(mx/rx/cx) while the regular segment vehicles get "mazda#".

the x in 16x stands for prototype/experimental
