not sure if everyone is aware of this but the mutiples of one car painted in one way is so they can do the movie and have a car with camera mounts, more for action shots (gets beat up) and one for staying pretty in closeup non moving type shots. as for the pictures in the yard it look as through there are only four movie cars (puke z, grey z, orange/black 3rd gen 7 and 3 evo) the rest are either extras or used more filiming in action sequences. if everyone already knew this sorry.

They usually do use multiples. There were about 4 different Batmobiles in Batman Begins. One to drive up in and get out of for close-up shots, with an electric motor, and hydraulics to open the hatch and stuff, another one with a big-ass Chevy V-8 in it to do the chase scenes(0-60 in 5 flat), one with a propane-fueled jet mounted on it for the flame-spewing scenes, and a 1:5 scale model to do the jump scenes. Except for the waterfall one. That was a real, 5,000 lb. Batmobile.
The less of the RX-8 in this attempt to wring some more money out of this shameful franchise, the better. On the other hand, bad publicity is good publicity.

The cars are built in multiple but of course at a barebones cost with only the kits, paint, and decals (I guess they really are true to real life ricers!). They're used for action shots, for getting banged up, for camera mounts, etc. If needed, they'll have a couple fully modded interiors (you guessed it, for the interior shots like Vin Diesel's passenger seat nos canisters and that asian kid's playstation) and prettied-up engine bays, etc. etc. etc.

I love that mini cooper that's being used as a camera mount!

The usually take cars (rent and buy) from ricers that are modestly done and them finish them off with more paint, body kits, etc. Then they make duplicates that only have enough for the shots they need the cars in. For example one of the duplicates in 2 of the supra had a high rez photo of the engine instead of a real decked out engine.

Links dead on site. Yeah they auction off stuff - at least they did after the first and second movies.

"The Rice and the Ridiculous III"

Who cares if there is an RX-8 in this movie or not? I'm not even going to go see it so I could care less. I'll wait until they play in on the USA network and I have nothing better to do that night such as watch paint dry, watch grass grow, or calulate the growth rate of my left foot's big toe nail in the winter with tight shoes on.

snizzle 02-13-2006 12:55 PM

In other news, Paul Walker is an idiot

rotarygod 02-13-2006 01:20 PM

^that's old news

Rotory_Addict 02-15-2006 07:09 PM

Honestly im glad they arent degrading the RX-8 by giving it an obnoxous paint job & body kit then slamming a 4 foot high wing on the back, not to mention some show-off teenager that doesnt know a thing about driving would probably be behind the wheel.

\\Konig\\ 02-15-2006 08:50 PM

there is a 4 foot wing on one of them actually. Ok, ok, more like 1 foot.

Moostafa29 02-15-2006 08:56 PM

Thank God. I'd be upset if the 8 was one of the major cars in the movie. That just means more attention from cops.

lazi 02-15-2006 09:46 PM

^ what moostafa said

NoTears316 02-15-2006 09:54 PM

I live my life one crappy movie at a time.

kride 02-15-2006 09:57 PM

^Again what MOOSTAFA said. Am I the only one having problems viewing the pics. When the linked was posted initially, I could see them. Now I cannot, any clues? :dunno:

crimson-rain 02-16-2006 05:20 AM

^and yet again what moostafa said. Cops would be all over our cars here in VA. Cops here LOVE to profile. Every "Fast and Furious" car they see they follow and run the plates and/or stop them and say "your exhaust is too loud" while a mustang and a harley passes by that you heard coming a half mile away. I'll NEVER figure that one out.

Rice and the Fruitiest 3? Can't see the pics :(

SuperRex 02-17-2006 07:13 PM

what makes me mad is that once all the teenagers see this they're gonna wanna go to the canyons and drift.... thinking it's cool and all.... then 100s will die... police will be all over drifting.... drifting will shut down in america.... i dunno lol there will be alot more stupid kids doing stupid stuff that's for sure though.
