the problem it's the marketing choice of MMItalia:
-no demos car, no ads, no tests in italian magazines.....the car disappear to the large audience.......

That's what I thought about Japan, but when I visited in April 07 I saw plenty of FDs and RX-8s, and they were driven within Tokyo.

I was ready to say "whats the big deal, if I was living in Europe I would be driving *cool car we dont get in NA* "
but really, all the new "cool" cars that you guys get are 40mpg FWD hot hatches (which are kinda gay IMO).
Alfa Romeo 159, Focus RS, VW Sirocco . . . all FWD, all gay
for the price, nothing compares to the RX8 !

Never imported. maybe some from "gray import". very rare.
I EU young people buy compact hatchs (sr.1 BMW, Golf, Mazda 3 etc...) 99% diesel powered.
sales of "real" sportcars are fewer than in US i suppose.
German Brands are very strong (audi TT, sr3 coupè,...)
Jap only for real passionate people. Rx-8 included.

The Ferrari's ain't any cheaper than they are in the US XD Oh well Norway stopped importing Rx-8's in 2006. The reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed government decided having the taxes for the Rx-8 being decided from its Co2 per KM. The Rx-8 went from costing around 62 000 USD (which is pretty cheap for a car like this in Norway), to costing about 107 000 USD. No wonder why they stopped importing it and why there aren't a single Rx-8 newer than 2006 model (AFAIK).

Well a more liberal party is growing to become the biggest in Norway at the moment. The election is in Autum 09 and if they get elected, I hope we'll be getting some major changes in the tax system around here! D:

I saw a on a recent episode of Fifth Gear, the UK gov is counting CO2 emissions into the vehicle taxes. RX-8 owners' registrations costs have skyrocketed.

No Normal RX-8's for sale in Norway or Hydro 8..
I don't think you can lease the Hydro model as it is also not shown available., I think they (Mazda) have just leased them to the Government...like in Japan.
Do you know any private buyers of a Hydro 8?..I don't.

The re-sale value has also taken a massive dive.
Just another reason their R3 will be the last RX-8 in the UK, I doubt it will last this year out.
You won't see any new rotaries in Europe soon and never again, not until Mazda reduces emissions considerably....enter the Hybrid Rotary...??.
Sad really, the world has been conned into Global Warming...Yes, the planet has been changing temp since the ice age...and it survives on CO2, what do they think green plants and trees survive on? Perhaps if the world (Humans) did not rape the forests we would not have this so called "High" CO2 level.
Sorry for the rant...but, CARS are not the problem.

Industries are the problems, and you can say that they are not the problem, but you cant say they arent part of it... FFS if they let all those diesel cars into Europe, why can't NA have them so that we can have more fuel efficient cars?

[QUOTE=PRX8;2915981]Either way, they need to build back the Rotary Reputation with a better engine[/QUOTE
sure.....less than USA... but lack of torque/power (and related with fuel consumption) it was wrote in all the Euro Car magazines, the common toughts are:
Rx-8? Great car, special engine and great handling ...BUT too much fuel for performances.....

When I was in Turino last summer, I was told they don't have many RX-8's in the area because of the local emissions laws.
Downtown Turino you wouldn't be allowed to drive the 8 as it doesn't meet the local downtown requirements. Even the 4 year old Alfo Romeo my friend was driving didn't meet the downtown regulations anymore.
Add to that the import price of the car, and it's simply not feasible to purchase an 8 in Italy, and much of Europe. (Even though the guys I was working with were drooling over the pictures of my car...)
