Thumbs down

I don't know if it has to do with the length of the article or the fixed number of words, but does anybody else feel that, along with giving us nothing that opinionated, it was poorly written as well?

did she even drive the car?

I WAS SKEPTICAL until I rode the six-speed manual through tight turns
what the hell does she mean by this comment?:

Mazda played it safe with a predictable design.
what is so predictable about the design of the rx-8?

What a job. Free flight California (Newsweek is in NYC), test drive the RX-8 on Mazda's race track, free hotel and free food and you only have to write one paragraph about your experience. :D

The funny thing was.. she sat next to me on the plane up to Laguna and I had to give her the 1 hour crash course on what a Rotary is. She was a real nice girl but, she was a little lacking in the automotive field. She told me she was off to Vale, Colorado to do a piece on a new Volvo right after the event at Laguna was done.. What a life!

She did have a blast with the car and that is a good thing, if the 8 is to succeed.

Taking a guess here but I think she meant "rowed" the six speed (slang for shifting through the gears, similar to rowing a boat). If she had attempted to sound cool and use some lingo it may have been "corrected" by her technical genious editors there at Newsweek.

Guys,
I should have my part over to Dan later today. Dan and I both wrote with a little different twist of the day's experience.

I attended the SCCA Double National race at Phoenix, immediately after the Laguna Seca test drive. I crew on a Nationally competitive E-Production RX-7, and this was the '03 season opener.

Thanks for the patience and understanding...
