New music for Mazda commercials!!

I don't know if I'm the only one not feeling these Mazda commercials. That music sounds like something you'd hear a calypso band play on a cruise to the Bahamas. Am I right?????? The Zoom-Zoom is still OK, but the music has to go. Something currnet and edgy. The new Nissan commercials look cool and have great music. Hey Mazda, I think it's time for a change. What do you guys think?????? Peace

Yes!!!! Get rid of the Calypso-Jamaican whatever! My dealership has a looped commercial of the Mazdas and that commercial drives me nuts hearing the Zoom Zoom Zoom. I can't imagine what they have to go through...

Nissan and Mitsubishi have always had great commercials with great music. Honda's commercials are usually creative and noteworthy. Mazda's for some reason are overly cute and annoying to me, I always wanted to strangle that Zoom Zoom kid and I still find the whole zoom zoom thing annoying. They really need to hire a new marketing department and get someone else to do their ads.

Ah, but do you remember those inane zoom-zoom jimgles - that is the task of marketing more often than not. And often more relevant than did you like it. I think everyone hates the zoom-zoom, so Mazda may have already one!

On the other hand I enjoy Nissan ads much more. They have "cool" and "hip" builtin.

Who really cares about the commercials, I Tivo through them anyway. I'm more concerned about the cars. Mazda is making a lot better looking cars than Nissan these days, have you been by a Nissan dealership recently? It's like Dr. Frankenstein's lab there. The only one I like the look of is the Murano.

Cool

For the introduction of the then new 2nd Gen Miata, they showed a Miata driving across the desert all the while playing The Crystal Method's "High Roller" from their Vegas CD. I went out and bought the CD and have been a Crystal Method fan since.
Mazda needs to find an upcoming band/group/whatever and use it in a commercial not only to promote their product, but the new music as well.

My .02...

Mitsu has done well with their music - how many of the artists they have used have become huge AFTER the commercial?

I personally like the Mazda zoom zoom zoom. My license plate is GotZoom and everybody loves it. I actually wanted to do a play on Got Milk with it but most of the people who see it say, "Zoom zoom zoom? You got zoom don't you?!? "

Just yesterday I had a car full of high school kids driving next to me begging for a ride in my car. When I laughed and shook my head, they then started screaming they wanted my license plate.

Go figure.

True enough. The BB games last night had both Mazda and Mitsu commercials and the latter was a lot better. For one thing it was focussed on a single car, while it looked like Mazda was trying to peddle half their lineup.

Here's a link with songs from TV commercials, one could make a great CD out of the Mitsubishi and Nissan commercial songs. If you made one from Mazda you'd be stuck with the annoying Zoom Zoom song and a Crystal Method song that was already 2 years old and played out by the time it was used.

Before someone mentions it... I'm not quite sure what to make of Subaru commercials either. It's kinda like hey there's Lance Armstrong, there's my car powersliding, they're not bad but nothing special.

Ike, that is a cool website. Thanks for the link. As far as the Mazda, I used to be rather annoyed by it, but must say it did stick to the brain. Then when I finally began purchasing Mazda's, all of a sudden it became kind of a novelty thing that sort of adds to the brand's personality, cheesy or not.

So I think it's a good thing for the brand in general and should probably stick with it for a little while. But they should mix things up once in a while too.

i like the zoom zoom, too. i actually really like it, i hope it stays. i know some of you think it's kinda corny...but it's just commercials. it doens't matter if they have **cool** commercials, most of nissan and mitsu's cars are still crap, and they started doing these real stupid eclipse commercials claiming the scallops in the doors actually strength them. eclipses are such pieces of crap they have to market them using the doors =P

Yeah I hope no other car company ever does that again. What would be really bad is if some car company made a commercial of a car's doors hugging it's owner

When we (wife and I, her Miata in Dec 01) rediscovered Mazda three years ago, the "Zoom-Zoom" marketing fit right in with the appeal that the brand and product held for us. We're now committed Mazda-philes who, frankly, love the
"Zoom-Zoom" campaign.

I don't mind the Zoom-Zoom theme, I suppose, but thought it was rather annoying in this latest commercial (the 3 guys in the lab coats), especially with the guy's cell phone playing the theme. It reaked of old guys trying to seem hip. No offense to anyone here. We're all hip, of course :o

I think the Zoom Zoom fit the Miata because it's a cute song for a cute car, beyond that they should have gone another route IMO.

Not only lab coats but weren't they Nissan and Toyota lab coats? I gotta admit I'll take the Zoom Zoom kid over that crap.

Zoom Zoom has become iconic. Most people don't remember the music used in Toyota or Nissan commercials. Everyone knows "zoom zoom" means Mazda.

Having said that, they've used it for a long time now. Might be time for a break, then they can bring it back in a couple years for the nostalgia factor.

You asked and I gave. Seems no one else has seen/heard of the 1999 Miata with Crystal Medthod playing in the background. I'd take CM (even if "the song was already 2 years old and played out by the time it was used") over Zoom-Zoom anyday.

I HATE when people asked what kinda car that is then I tell them a Mazda RX8 then they go "Oh Zoom Zoom". I just want to slap them. It's always that or "Oh piston engines go boing boing boing, mazda engines go Hhhmmmmmmm".

I guess their marketing slogin must somewhat work because EVERYONE remembers them.
