While true, I rather they spent some money on the engine...I think that's the perfect kit but if I know Mazda, they will ask for a one of your children to buy it.
It looks real nice and I would love to upgrade my 8 with it, but I hope it's not too expensive while I know their history for pricing.
Please Mazda...upgrade the engine already...

Go Texas Longhorns!
at this point, does it really matter if they upgrade the engine? There is enough aftermarket support now that for 5K you can have a sick FI RX-8.
I know people care about warranty, but even if they come out with a 300HP turbo 8, there will still be people bitching its two slow, not enough power, etc....
just buy a freaking base model 8 and build it up yourself. If warranty is an issue, get a supercharged version which could be easily removed if ther is a problem.
Mazda has always been conservative with there cars, letting the aftermarket provide the boost. Sure, I'd like to see a FI Mazdaspeed 8, but its not like we need it to reverse engineer the ECU.

Anybody notice the extra vents on the front fender?
Look closely at the far front fender and you'll see vents on the top of the fender a la le mans prototype.
Any guesses if that's purely cosmetic or functional??

I don't think mazda really ever reads this board. If they did they would do something power wise and sell a lot more. These look great, but I think most people are pretty happy with how the 8 is in the looks department so why don't they put research into performance?

Thank you, Brillo. That is exactly what I was going to write.
I'd like Mazda to come out with an FI RX-8 also. But they don't appear to be anytime soon and the aftermarket is providing us with much support. Besides, with the exception of a huge alteration from Mazda - like low compression rotors - PTP, Hymee, etc...will offer us more bang for the buck and probably higher quality parts than a Mazda OEM SC/Turbo.

the thing is mazda needs to have a hi power model to give image to the car, even a low production # special edition will give the car a reputation in the american market.
I will never understan why mazda makes the special edition mazdaspeed model near the end of the cars life, it is my personal belive that sports car sell when they are still a novelty if you make a big impresion at the beginig they sell more in there life span.
I dont think they should go xtreme but a good 20-40 hp more.
