The ballots have been counted and only six vehicles remain. On the car side, finalists are Cadillac XLR, Mazda RX-8 and Toyota Prius

Well, considering that the Mazda has recently won about 5 awards and came in 2nd place isn't too bad. One thing I noticed though is that the article said that for the cars to be eligible, they had to be a new model or substantially change from the previous model year. Has the Prius changed that much from 2003 to 2004?
The Pruis sports an all new drivetrain that is both more efficient and more powerful, not to mention that the car is more spacious now as well. As much as I like rotaries, the Prius is an engineering marvel and definately deserves to win.
