Motorweek - RX-8 Aces 350Z
#51
Well heres my take on it.
Exterior Styling:
....Its hard to compare. I like both for different reasons. Both are sexy cars - the 8 has a "wild" edge to it while the 350Z has the "aggressive" thing goin on. Personally I lean slightly towards the 8 in this dept because it has a look thats harder to get tired of, as opposed to the Z which i think you can get sick of fast.
Interior Styling:
IMHO the 8 wins hands down....the Z's interior is nice but something is lacking.
Power:
The Z of course...the numbers speak for themselves.
Handling:
Both cars are good handlers.....But IMHO the 8 wins here by a nose. Its more agile and nimble. and the suspension is easier which makes for a much better everyday driver than the Z (which is quite rough and stiff)
Conclusion:
I pick the 8.
Don't get me wrong, the Z is a very nice car and I give it mad respect. But when comparing it to the 8, it just doesn't make sense as a purchase (IMHO). Yes the Z does excel in power and speed, but lets face it...its not like the Z is on some totally different plane than the 8 in this dept; yeah its faster, but not WORLDS faster. IMHO where the Z excels over the 8, it doesn't excel by enough for me to over look the fact that the 8 is 6Gs cheaper, handles a little better, has 4 seats that can accomodate 4 adults comfortably (thats a biggie) and is just generally a better everyday car.
Essentially, the only thing the Z has over the 8 is the quarter mile and IMO...the quarter mile is useless..OK so you can beat an 8 at the light...Big Deal. The 8 offers more than enough speed to keep you happy driving around the city
