Now I hear a lot of people taking about the new civic. Do you guys think it can slow the mazda 3 and mazda 6 sales?

 

it may affect a little bit, but if think about it a bit more, both the 3 and the 6 offer something that's different than what new civic has, namely the versatility of the 3 5-door hatch, as well as the 6's larger size, PLUS the addition of a hatch AND a wagon body style

it'll probably have some effect, but not to the point that it'll sack the current sale volume of the 3 and 6.

 

oh, and aesthetically, i think the new civic is hideous (saw one at work), the 3 looks much better IMO.

 

The 10k price is a used 04 just do a search on ebay motors or autotrader and it will give you an idea of prices. Some are more than 10k under MSRP afte ronly 2 years. That is significant depreciation. As bad as the 99 cougar I had. Sold it 4 years after I got it for 1/3 what I paid.

 

Yes, there are still quite a few places that have 04's on the lots. Even after 6 grand in cash from Mazda. Most of the ones I have seen were wierd setups, like the Touring Package with a sunroof and nav, (no leather) or fully loaded ones with the DVD nav. I guess there were not a lot of people who wanted to spend upwards of 35k for this car. Mostly black leather, too. I've seen a bunch of 04, sports cars on dealer lots, but the 05's are gone.

 

Adendum. Many of the 04's have been sitting on dealer lots for almost two years. Funny they were not able to get rid of them sooner.
