Im skeptical of why they would list 2009 models when the 2008's just started coming in. Usually you dont start seeing new model year rx8's till late spring. So why would they have a vehicle on the locater that there is 0 press about, and no dealers can order, because theres no info on it.

But disregard anything i say, who am i to be questioning you? Ive only been in the business since i was in diapers.
well im glad your family owns a mazda dealer. i would love to own one as much as i love mazda. like you, i am wondering why this is posted. i started this to figure out if anyone has heard anything. you know as well as i do the dealers get information last. hahai don't know about your mazda rep., but ours suck. he is only good for an occasional call to the GM about RDR'ing a few cars so he can meet his objective. have you checked the eMDCS yourself yet?

checked it, its there.. but im telling you, there is NO press on it at all even on the net. There are a ton of very reliable people on here who have in's w/ Mazda. Again im not calling you a liar, but i wouldnt get my hopes up. the R tuned could be a low power 4 port 6 speed for all we know.

It also could have a 16x in it?

who knows

well i got the screen shots sent to me this morning so everyone can see for themselves

you can see that for searching you only have 4 choices - mazda6sdn rx8,tribute hev(hybrid) and tribute

then under rx-8 you have the various models including that r tuned one

clearly to me this is the IT people starting to build the 2009 search database and letting some of it play live. like i said we've seen some of this before with the mazdausa site where you find something only to have it disappear a few days later but reappear down the road.

rtuned may just be a place holder until the actual model nomenclature is decided

since we know that 2008 rx8 production will be short so that they can start 2009 production early and that it 2009 involves a facelift it could be a shinka model or a mazdaspeed model

i expect now that these are posted that its quite possible this info will disappear from the site for awhile since the mazda peeps that frequent the forum will read it sometime today or tomorrow.

thanks for the heads up Adam

go to photobucket.com and create an account. Post it there, and it will give you the html tag to put it inline in a post here.

Good work Adam. I know the Mazda 3 people already have information on changes for the Mazda 3 after 2008. I believe they're currently calling it the 2008.5 Mazda 3. Mazda might be doing the same thing for the RX-8; it'll be called the 2009 model, but it's closer to a 2008.5 in release date.

Well seeing MMC are producing 08 RX-8's as we speak right up until Christmas.
Then there is a 4 months stop of RX-8 production, which means an April 2008 re-start.
We here are 99.99% certain that this will be the 2009 face-lift RX-8 which will be available here in Australia May 2008.
I have had this confirmed by Mazda Australia's GM, but he wont spill ANY specifications before it is released to their dealers, I do not think at this stage they are known.
Spec's will be available in the New Year.
IMO don't expect too much alteration.

On a side note, check out the MazdaUSA site and request a brochure. Check out the options.

It looks to me that the three "RX-evolv"s are simply place holders for future RX-? vehicles. The list pretty much makes sense I think (I don't know them all) until RX-8 Shinka.

our mazda part and service district director was in my store today, and i asked him about the t runed. he said it was like what they did with the rx-7 at the end of production to where it had a tuned suspension and no real frills. i forgot what he called that rx-7, but someone on an earlier post mentioned something like it i think.

Mazda has used the R designation quite a few times before, especially on Miatas in the US but there was of course what we knew as R1 and R2 on the FD RX7s that were no frills versions that had hard suspensions etc. An example of the possible application is that of the GTU-S version of the FC RX7.

Who knows? I can speculate with the best .

Paul.
