spin9k hit it on the head and so many of you missed that.

its not about what brands are percieved to be the worst.

its simply what brands the interviewees DIDNT MENTION.

thats all. its all skewed and mislabeled statistics. they really didnt ask the right questions for the answers they are posting up.

you do realize that your car and the miata share a ton of parts?.....including the suspension and trans.....so you hate your 8 i assume?....they drive virtually the same

Here the 3 is seen as an econobox, the 5 an oddball uVan, and the 2 who knows how it will be accepted. And all Mazdas big and small are not big players regardless in the North American market.

Niche players have the same burdens where ever they are marketed. I'm not sure Mazda is a niche player, but it is not as widely known and sold as Toyota, Honda, Ford, etc. and that presents its own opportunites and problems. Over here, it just seems Mazda (whos customer service is spotty already here), doesn't seem to be doing enough to market themselves to get themselves out of this economic slump as are most other manufacturers. Whatever, that's their call. Like you say, perhaps they're spending their wad over in Europe.
I live in Northern VA. I know exactly how these cars are perceived by most people in the USA, but thanks for the summary. I try to keep up with events and trends in Europe though, because I was born there, even if I didn't live there very long.

For one, while my 17 year old brother drools over the 370Z, he also drools over the Mazda 2. So, if he ended up with $20k that he had to get rid of, Mazda would sell one of them at least. Where I live, the Smart car is increasingly popular, so I'm going to guess Mazda could sell a few 2's here too.

I'm not sure why you'd be getting spotty service from Mazda. I've never gotten less than the best service from them.

Right, RX8club, not MazdaOwnersUnite.com

Nice to see the 8 owners standing up for the parent company, but just because I like one of their product, doesn't mean I have to defend the brand's lack of public awareness. Now if they wanna hire me for their PR person, then by all means, I'd be as passionate as the rest of ya'll.
