Oh, my mistake. My money statement was not intended to make a value point. Even in absolute terms, it's difficult to find a car like the 8.

First reason is that there are no 4 seaters with the forgiving nature and throttle response of a Wankel engine.

Second is that there are no 4 seaters that provide the handling feel of an 8.

But to compliment your point, I'd consider an Aston Martin Rapide as a trade candidate, although they are very different machine classes, provided the key fob is not a disguised Volvo one. :)

But even then, if the trade meant that I can't ever have an 8 again, I'd be incredibly hesitant.

I agree. The 8 is much more rare here than in the US, but some people still talk to me about acceleration and speed, and what's faster than my car and such and such. And they don't "get" that I don't really give a shit. You can toss a 911 turbo engine in a VW Beetle and it would go like stink. Speed isn't the reason I have my 8, there's a buttload of faster cars. I bought it for the look and the wankel, I started to love it for all the little details, the driving feel, the uniqueness, the relative practicality. When I step away from it I always turn around and look at it like it's my baby ;)

If you asked me what car I'd buy for 100,000 I'd rather keep the car and put a 3 or 4 rotor in it ;)
