The RX-8's video game looks and rotary engine give it a technology edge, but its lack of cabin gadgets keeps the focus on driving.

ROFLMAO

CNET's reviews are meant to be based on the gadgets available inside the car. Its mostly a tech based review. The car the editor of CNET got was without a GPS and Sat Radio. Its a technology website not a car magazine for those who don't know.

Hey I work at CNET.

But yea, they review cars based on tech gadgets. The true specs of the car come second.

Keeps the Focus on Driving, I suppose that is a disadvantage for CNET. The 8 is rated 6 by them and 8.6 by users. The 350z is rated 7.3 by CNET 6.9 by users. I think they are out of touch with what the drivers like. Let them know sports cars are supposed to be for people who like driving.

I think some of you need to evaluate the source of the review and it's priorities. It's a useful skill to have

I don't know. Because you aren't able to evaluate sources?

"but its lack of cabin gadgets keeps the focus on driving. "

EXACTLY why I bought the car.

I personally feel that if more people kept the focus on driving, we'd have less accidents on the road.

He loved the car (opps but forgot to drive it?) yet had blu-tooth cellphone withdrawal? Best advice: keep him parked and yapping to his techie friends (6 rating w/no explaination - yea right)

Hi Seiko boy, I do blow my mind on occasion, in a good way though. The fact that people can't read this review for what it is, boggles my mind.

What's the point of a tech site doing a gadget review on a car with very few applicable gadgets? Seems kind of like a video game mag doing a video benchmarking review of a Palm.

Do you know what CNet is? what their purpose is? Let me explain it for those incapable of figuring it out.

CNet is a technology driven website. They write reviews about computers, cameras, PDA's, audio equipment etc etc etc from a technological and ergonomic standpoint. They don't really comment on things that cannot be quantified. In the case of cars, they focus on gadgets and novelties that the cars posses, not how well it drives. I would call what they write a tech review of cars, not a car review.

Why someone would pick up CNet and expect a Road & Track/MotorTrend etc type review is really beyond me. You'd have to be pretty dense.

Forget it BlueEyes you are just wasting your breath, the one thing I've figured out from this website is that some people ARE real dense and there is nothing you can do about it. Don't let i get to you and move on. Let the fanboys keep posting.

Seemed like a pretty good tech review to me. CNET is doing what they do best... talking about the technical aspects of things. With the popularity of IPODs and portable MP3 players most cars nowadays should come with an auxiliary port to plug these devices instead of making you buy the manufacturer's version.

Go to the Mazda USA website and click build it. Six speed and leather(no nav) $31,685. Sure we all know we can get it for less, but that is the MSRP.
