probably, but then again making consumers transition from one type of thing to another may lead to some backlash. Just like hybrids they still have problems that would make average consumers to buy something familiar, not saying that hybrids are any good (I hate Priuses).

The most discouraging thing about the rotary is not that it floods or gas mileage, it is because its different

i have an unbridled HATE for toyotas... currently have a highlander on my driveway, worst transmission ever, will always be fuel efficient, n when im going up a hill, would upshift!! at 2k rpm. I live on a hill, on top of a hill, on top of a hill, on top of a hill, on top of a hill, it makes me want 2 shoot something (hence also my hatred for slushboxes.)

With lots of money it can be done. Lets take the G35, you're basically asking if you can put thew VQ35HR into a older generation G35. You'll need someone to tune it, someone to fit it, to fab things to fit it. It can be done. But why would you do it..... just get the new car with the new renesis.

if the thing is direct injected, and im pretty sure it will be, do u ahve any idea what a bitch its gonna be to run a 1st gen rx8 PCM to that thing? ud have to get a standalone and have someone tune it, who btw knows direct injection......ill pay off this 8 by then, and then go buy the new 8 instead.....that way ill have both gen rx8s and be real happy in my rotary powered driveway....

i swear, anything short of having a pregnant gf, i wont buy a piston car ever again

Too bad that car isn't real. You will never see a new car debut in a magazine like that anyways. It's as inaccurate as every other Japanese magazine that has been posting pictures of a "new RX-7" for the past decade.

Cos what if the new car is either butt ugly, a 2 door or just really, really expensive?

As for PCM issues, maybe people will have finally worked out how to deal with the PCM by 2010...hahaha!

True- does anyone know what is going to happen to the batteries in these cars once they're spent? Brock Yates says these are hazardous waste dumps on wheels.

Mr Engman has been saying it for years: "What are they going to do with all of those batteries?" People don't often care to look at the whole picture, the complete equation.

My take on this is Mazda have been teasing us for some time now their future prototypes...and I wouldn't mind betting they'll throw the new Renesis into one of these....

looks like mazda wants to continue to get there butt handed to them by nissan. The Rx-8 doesn't sell well becuase its extremly underpowered, they want to wait until 2010 for a new car.. we need a 300 hp car next year to remain competative.

Correction: the Rx-8 doesn't sell well in the USA. In the rest of the world it does fine.

Damn -- those things are uglier than a Crossfire.
