Bondurant offers Rotary Racing

Here's an email I got from ProAutoSports regarding an upcoming new racing division offered through Bondurant High Performance Driving! I thought people would be interested to see that the rotary is being used in a new racing series.

BONDURANT LAUNCHES ASA-BONDURANT CHAMPIONSHIP RACE SERIES.

After more than four decades as the world’s premier advanced driver education school, the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving is proud to announce the introduction of the ASA-Bondurant Championship Race Series.

The Bondurant Championship Race Series is sanctioned by ASA Racing and will run as part of ASA-ProAutoSports race weekends. It begins this September for the 2009-2010 race season and includes 18 races over nine weekends utilizing three road race tracks at Firebird International Raceway in Chandler, Ariz.
The first race weekend will be September 25-27, 2009. Participants will race monthly with the final race in May 2010.

Drivers will be competing in one of Bondurant’s newly acquired, purpose-built Formula Mazda race cars each weekend, participating in Friday testing rounds followed by qualifying, then racing on Saturday and Sunday. The race cars are powered by 13B Mazda rotary engines and equipped with proper Goodyear racing slicks and 4-speed Hewland gearboxes.

Bondurant’s Formula Mazdas offer a true racecar experience in a race series open to anyone 15 years or older that is a driver of “good standing” with the Bondurant School of High Performance Driving.

CEO Bob Bondurant stated: “This professional race series will give drivers a chance to compete in identical cars on the three different Firebird International Raceway road racing tracks. We are pleased to have ASA Racing sanction and support this new program for us. ASA Racing has approved a rule book and will provide a race director for the on-track racing. We will be running with ASA-ProAutoSports, another ASA road racing division in Arizona.”

Dennis Huth, president of ASA, stated, “It is a great honor and pleasure to work with my good friend, Bob Bondurant, in his Championship Race Series. This is an important step in the growth of our road racing program.”

Cost to participate in the Championship Race Series is $3,495 per event, which includes car rental, instruction, and maintenance of the vehicle. Participants bring their own safety equipment including suits, gloves, and head and neck restraints.

For more information and applications for the ASA-Bondurant Championship Race Series, email Lee Siltala at leesiltala@bondurant.com or call 480-403-7614, or Mike Tejadilla at mtejadilla@bondurant.com or call 480-403-7615.
