The Z is the perfect blend between handling and brute power. It does not excel in either category (when compared to a Vette or the new 5.0), but it brings the best of both worlds. I am not looking back at all.

That said, when/if Mazda drops a true RX7, I will be test driving it with the purpose of coming back to the rotary side...
I'm fortunate enough to have an '07 RX-8 as well as a '10 370Z...both great cars in their own ways. Nothing can replace the feel of the RX-8 but I also love the grunt of the 370Z.
Just because you're dating a blonde doesn't mean you can't enjoy a brunette!

Welcome to the "own em both club"! I agree with you, except I think of the Z as more of a red head.

The instant the secondary runners open at 5500, , boredom is replaced with a big sh*t-eating grin that doesn't go away for the rest of the drive.
3500 rpm? That's still somewhat leisurely shifting in most cars. I typically shift just below 2.5k in the S4 and I used to shift below 4k rpms in the 8 for better mileage. 3500 is where boost really kicks in on my s4 and pretty much goes to 7k rpms.

Mind you, I'm not bashing the 8, I'm just trying to point out that the delay of power is not exactly a benefit of a high revving engine. Mostly just posting this because I found it odd that you were complimenting the 8's acceleration in a thread comparing it to a notably faster car. The handling/driving feel of the car is what will put a grin on people's faces.

You two are lucky! I will be taking my wife's CX7 and getting her the CX9. Then I can tune the CX7 and have that and the Z....

You will love the CX-9, it is a serious machine. I can out corner many cars in the wifey's CX-9, not to mention SUV's aren't supposed to kick azz like the 9 does.
