I doubt they are branding it the Rx7.

Either way... i hope it dont look like the one in that picture. Fugly. They should mix the Rx7 styling with the 8. Lower, sleeker, 2 seater, lighter, with some triangles and curves of the 8. That thing in that pic looks to bulky... and imo, resembles the Audi TT.

It being in a magazine like that is just the same as an internet site publishing it. If they have the first hands on test, then it means something.

That's the kabura... it's a concept from about 4 years ago. That's not news and is most likely not anywhere near what the next RX will look like. It had a piston engine in it.

Rx9 already existed, way back... Why should they call it that?

they didn't really do that much to the series II, did they? they tweaked the body panels in front and back, but didn't they take the tranny or gears or something from the miata? the r3 trim is obviously a big change, but again, mostly cosmetic which means not a whole lot of r&d money there.

but, i agree, i think it will go a year or two past what this guy said.

There are a number of 'behind the scenes' changes in the Series II, but not so many imo that Mazda should feel compelled to stay with it more than a few years. Given today's rapid prototyping CAD/CAM systems they can bring on a new model pretty quickly ... if they have a sound powerplant, which in the 16X' case as we [think we] know is suspect at this time.

So.... who knows, but they do need to meet my personal 2012 deadline.

They did make a lot of changes to the engine.... ie ecu and third oil injector

the ecu being the main reason why the AP for the 8 wont work on the +09's (atleast from what I have read)

^I really wish they'd chose that model design, best one I've ever seen for a new proposal.

I would buy that in a heartbeat. Nicest body style I've seen from Mazda in a LONGTIME!

The designs are great. Why not call it the RX-6? I'm fine with 7, 8 or 9 as long as they make one.
out of all of the awesome pics, are they saving the white one for Canada?

Those are all horrible and would push me away from the brand. Or I could just keep my SII and FD forever..
