My '07 manual Canada says 5W20 only. It does not give other recommended oil weights.

Got mine Monday. Engine was replaced last month, means i have a 3yr/36k now. not bad.

I will suscribe to this thread but don't feel that the questions I have will be answered. It is nice that Mazda will offer a 100,000 mile warranty but the local dealers still make the final decission.

So I brought my 04 RX-8 in this evening to have it looked at due to rough idling and lack of power, not knowing about the MSP16 recall btw, and was told by the techs in the service department that there were no recalls open on my car and I was out of warranty so I would be charged $97.50. Seeing I was agitated, the nice woman at the counter printed off the warranty vehicle inquiry that showed all the recalls that had been performed and what warranty I had left (I still have the 5 year 60000 powertrain and 8 year 100000 engine but they said the problem was likely something not covered by those warranties). Once I left I looked over the two sheets she printed off for me and of course right at the top under recalls is "MSP16 RX-8 - Engine Lack of Power Status-Open". Great service Mazda.:banghead:

We have been a Mazda family for years, from old 626's one 929, my Rx-8 and just bought my wife a 2008 Tribute, 4 cylinder. She loves it and burns regular gas and has a real Mazda motor, not Ford. My RX-8 is 2004 loaded except for Nav. Has a re-bulit motor under warranty, runs great and will be looking at the new one when they come in. The South Florida Mazda dealers cannot keep the used RX-8's on the lot. They are sold as soon as they come in. They are offering a premium for my 2004 which is cherry (51,000 miles). I will not be happy with anything else other than the RX-8 and am also looking forward to what Mazda will be doing in the future with the anticpated RX-7 coming out.

Jeremy, you do realize that, had you endorsed pre-mixing, many here would be quoting your words as confirmation of the usefulness of their quaint pre-fueling ritual. Of course, now that you've said pre-mixing isn't necessary, those same people will point to your words as proof that you're not allowed to tell the truth about pre-mixing. And so goes logic in the bizarro world of RX8Club.com. Thankfully, it's a moot point; only a tiny handful of RX-8 owners will ever premix or, for that matter, even hear the word "premix" uttered in their lifetime. (Sorry guys, couldn't resist. Is pre-mixing helpful? Maybe it is. Then again, maybe it isn't. ;)) And we all know what the answer is (rather aftermarket parts will damage Dell's computer) |

I got 12k for mine and felt fortunate after reading some of the trade offers other folks had gotten.
