I received the Consumer Reports Auto issue in the mail today, so I immediately looked up the RX-8. The picture looks different than the 2005, but in a way that it looks like it is an RX-8 with after market parts on it. The ground effects and spoiler are different than the appearance package and rear spoiler that were stock for 2005. It also has gold rims. I don't think it is a Shinka, but maybe some of you can look at the April 2006 Consumer Reports issue on page 61 and offer their opinions. I like the style of the 2005 that is in the show rooms now, I hope that they haven't changed it for 2006 - nothing that I have read so far states that they have. To make things more odd, they list the AT numbers as the 197 HP instead of the 213 (?) and they list it as a 4-spd vs the 6-spd.

BTW, it is a CR Recommended car.

I'm looking forward to hearing all about your car when you get it. It will be interesting to see if there are any other little changes for 2006 that Mazda failed to tell us about.

That is what it is, it is the same pic from google. The next question is, did CR just grab the wrong image? It wouldn't be the first time for that. I think the 8 with GT, appearance pkg & spoiler looks better than the mazdaspeed 8 - but looks aren't the main reason for buying mazdaspeed vehicles...

its the same pic they used last year. its just the bodywork, nothing official. stop gettin all excited about a stupid mazdaspeed 8. they got the hp numbers wrong bc they r idiots. i hate consumer reports. their comments in just about all of the sports cars are "harsh ride" and "bad fuel economy". no **** u dumb asses, they r goddamn sports cars!!!!!!!!

That is so funny - everytime I read someone complaining about the fuel economy of the RX-8 I think that same thing. I don't care what it says on the sticker or what it gets - just give me my rotary!

Read the same blurb. Interesting all of the other "sports" cars get about the same MPG. The RX8 is on the low end, but not by much.

just my point! that means they couldnt find anything wrong to complain about. like when motor trend did "hot" and "not" for the new miata they said like 50 things for hot and "not" was 'too many cupholders'. what a moron complaint.

i hate when people complain. WAAAAAA my rx8 gets bad gas mileage. omg the 350z gets a whole 2mpg better than my 8. do me a favor, rev the Z to 9 grand and then measure its fuel economy...o, wait, what? the Z CANT rev to 9 grand? o well, price u pay for bad gas mileage u idiots. u bought a rotary engine, if u didnt kno what its quirks were, go be like evryone else and get a Z, the rest of us rotorheads will be much happier w/o you
