are you talking about removing the dash where the cd player is or the center console where the shifter is back to the trunk?

I really really can't understand that one. Oh, now I think I do know, he may be saying "I am going to give you a hint of what is involved". Anyway, 'got 8', I think you should let the dealership do the installation for you. I mean, if you don't know how to take out the dashboard (not saying I do), then you aren't professional enough for the job. WHy pay 33k for the car and save $200 for the labor that might just screw up the entire dashboard?

I am definitely not going to mess around with the thing. I am even picky on who is working on my car. I just want to be sure the guy knows 100% of what he is working on.

yes
from:
top of the dash where the center speaker is.
dash where the cd player is.
center console back to the trunk.
I will need to run a bunch of wires from the dash to the trunk and some mod to the top dash piece.

Question

Wow, people really can't take a joke around here, you guys have to lighten up. I don't see this as being mean, I'm a very nice person just like the rest of us up here in the frozen North.

If your going to make a post as illegible as this and not be able to take a little fun being poked at you then you're wound up way to tight...... I hope you're not a postal worker.......:D

obviously you dont understand how important the instructions is.
there is a reason why they writing new instruction for every new equitment, in this case a new car.
so we dont mess things up.

L&L I think we have a similar sense of humor....there's so much I could do with this but I'm just going to leave it alone.....at least for this thread. I think sometimes the humor or sarcasm can get lost in a text message but at least it's nice to know some people can take a joke.

Kind of conceited. Sounds like you're into car stereo. That's why you can do all this stuff. But like any stereo installer dealing with a brand new car, you need to know how to take things apart without destroying them.

So let me help you. Simply stick your head underneath the dashboard. Next, poke your head through the center speaker grille. I know the grille looks small but your head should fit through nicely.

And remember, take it from me: You are going to like this.

LOL...I'm trying sooo hard to behave myself...heheh.

Is he trying to install a factory NAV into the dash, or is he trying to install a whole new custom dash w/a custom screen and NAV?

Maybe you could help me with a project...

I'm going to build an eight foot wide projection panel on the bonnet of my 8 and mount a projector on the roof.

My questions are...

1) where can I buy a waterproof projector?
2) where can I get a 25 mile long mains power cord?

Man!!!, 13 inch monitor on the dash - are you crazy??? I bet you'd make it through about a week before the distraction causes you to have a head on crash and kill someone.

Sorry - I'm all for easy reference and intuitive controls but big screens on the dash are just WRONG!

On a lighter note, how about a personality module for your 8...

Imagine slamming into third and getting a response like "give it to me Dave" and and orgasmic animal scream as revs approach 9k rpm?!?!?

Even when you get into the car and close the door ... "I've got you now big boy" :D

Problems 8's that stall, etc could play the boring monotonic "not now, I've got a headache".

I just removed the center piece with the center dash speaker. Once you remove the head unit, there are 4 screws that are exposed. remove these and the vents and then the large center piece just snap off. Lots of space underneath- its where I am putting my XM radio piece (XM commander).

It is amazing, however, how poorly English is spoken/ written...

No, seriously, why bother with clips? That's amateurish. Simply saw the darn plastic panel off the center console running the length of the interior. In fact, if you want a truly professional and custom job, saw through the metal as well. Remove the entire center tunnel.

You probably know as well as I do that the center tunnel serves no real purpose other than for style.

When you take out the entire center tunnel, first thing you'll notice is there is a newfound spaciousness and a truly open soundstage. When I first experienced this, I was so excited that I installed a 30-inch plasma screen into my RX8.

To tell you the honest truth, the 30-inch is too small. I recommend that you install a 50-inch plasma screen.

When you are done with the masterpiece, I guarantee "you are going to like this."

Don't forget to post pics.
