yet another reflash story

First let me say I have been pleased with my rx8 from day one. I have not had any of the various problems some folks here have talked about. For that reason, I was very reluctant to get my car reflashed. No hard starts, no flooding, gas mileage between 17 and 18 mpg; I figured why mess with a good thing. Well, two days ago I decided to go ahead and do it anyway. The car is even better now; shifts are smoother, it winds up smoother and faster, can feel more power on low end. I got the very latest flash; I didn't ask what letter it was but it just came out about a week ago. My dealer has been excellent, never gives me any problems, the mechanic who works on my car is a rotary nut from back in the seventies. If anyone is having any doubts about doing the reflash I would say definitely do it. I don't know if it will improve gas mileage yet, but even if it doesn't, the other improvements alone make it worth doing.

I just had mine done yesterday too. Original flash is M. I have zero problem with the car from day one and it never miss a beat. I have about 12K miles on it now. I didnt' start it for a month and it was -4 degree yesterday morning and it starts right up within 2 sec of cranking. As for the new flash, I don't know what they put on but I think it is R flash or whatever the latest flash is. The car does pull better from low RPM. I don't know if there is any improvement on the mileage. I had my gas tank recall and ball joint inspect and this rework also include reflash the ECU. I will find out if that is indeed true when the road is drier.
