Yet another new member (and new 8!)
Took delivery today of a 2005 RX-8 Shinka (6 speed). Stunning car, looking forward to many years of spirited driving.
First impressions - perhaps I have a unusual car, but I got 22mpg on the first tank, 50/50 city/highway driving and mostly in a huge rainstorm, no less. Considering all that I've read on these forums about the less-than-stellar mileage, I was actually pleasantly surprised.

Welcome and yes, I too own a Shinka (a real Shinka, like you. None of this "I'm the same color as everybody else" 2006 Shinka nonsense) jk, every 8 is sacred. btw: If you want more stability in the rain get the Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires. Much better in dry and infinitely better in wet than stock.
Welcome! I also have a 2006 Shinka and love it. They are something to hold onto since Mazda is going to stop making them after this year. I never plan on selling mine, but rather make it the first car in my collection. There is lots of great info here if you look for it.
Welcome to the '05 Shinka club!
When you get 3k miles or so on the stock Dunlop Sport 8090's they grip like crazy, rain or shine.
