Yay! so some fat B*TCH backed into me in the parking lot today....

So... its dec 26th, i get back to my car after wading thru thousand of fat ugly people in the mall... get in my car back up about to throw it into 1st and get outta the place when some fat *** bitch in a mini van pulls out of a space to my rear left and hits me

*sigh* its no big deal I know, but i JUST got my car back from the shop after hitting a raccoon while doing 65mph.... *screams*

I sure as hell wasnt leaveing without an accident report so i wait and wait... finally get it done and get the hell outta there, and i stew in my rage for about 40 minutes on the ride home.

Dont have pics yet, but my rear left tail light is broken and will have to be replaced, and there is a huge dent in the left rear of my bumper, and my left plastic "exaust finisher" (like the chrome one, but just stock) is broken.

Now technically i was still in reverse when she hit me, but i was already out there, the cop said there is nothing he can do since it's on private property (mall parking lot) Since I also just got done dealing with this raccoon thing, im wary to report it to my insurance company as well. Once I get some numbers on the damage and cost to fix, that will be the deciding factor, keeping in mind my deductible is 500 dollars.

Anyways, my question to you peeps right now is:
1) how much for a left replacement tail light for a 2005 RX8?
2) How much for a replacement stock bumper (in brilliant black)?
3) How much for the left plastic "exaust finisher"?

It sucks to say but since there might be an argument of "neither of us are at fault" Im playing with the idea of just saying "**** it" and not reporting it to my insurance place (she said she might not either since there was only a tiny ding in her bumper)

Since my deductible is 500 dollars either way, if the cost of fixing this isnt astronomical above that, I will just take care of the cost out of my pocket. It would be worth it to me so I dont involve my insurance place *SO* soon after the raccoon incident.

Your thoughts? advice? any and all input is welcome (as long as its constructive) oh and for the record my car is NOT silver, hah

thanks in advance people!
Jeff

ouch! Im guessing it's the van's fault in which case you should report it to your insurance. We'll see what the 'experts' have to say...

yeah -- thats my guess too, however it comes down to being one of those "he said she said things" there is nothing the officer that responded could do except tell us to exchange information.

The decision hinges on how much the above mentioned parts will cost to replace... im looking around but not finding anything online to give me an idea, i plan on taking it in to the Freeman Mazda place on thursday, but the sooner I have an idea the better.

I'm looking at the sitation as "its nobody's fault" so (hopefully) forget the insurance place and etc etc, and everyone just pays for their own damage. I'm fine with that as long as its not (a lot more) then my decductible for insurance. From what I'm seeing, it shouldnt be anything crazy i mean, from my estimates i should be able to get the left rear tail light for $150 bucks, the plastic exaust 'finisher' thingy for what? 50 bucks, and then the bumper... which I would hope doenst cost more then 500. If this is the case, ill just eat the cost as its worth it to me to NOT involve my insurance place so soon.

Keep in mind that the "fat *** b*tch" may report the accident to her own insurance company (especially if her minivan was also damaged) claiming that YOU were the at fault party. At that point, your insurance company is going to find out anyway.

Why? It sounds to me like it's her fault so you should be looking for a way to get her to pay. If she is a reasonable person she will admit fault and cough up. What insurance do you have?

what i need to know right now wether to go ahead and make a claim is how much (generally) the parts mentioned above will cost..... so if anyone knows please let me know.

I'm going to call the fat lady tonight and talk with her about whats going on.... but im just trying to find out right now right here about the general cost of those parts.

Thanks

after being rear-ended, my new bumper with a new coat of BB paint was $730 w/ $0 out of my pocket (other divers ins. covered everything). i also spoke with my ins. company and was told as long as the other company covers the bill, i would not see an increase in my premium, and so far i haven't.

sucks man

So why did you get the police involved, that report will go to your ins. company whether you contact them or not. If you pay out of your own pocket, they will still get a copy of the report. Unless the the other driver wanted an accident report filed, i don't quite understand your logic. Hope it woks out O.K.

Wow, I just got rear ended about 3 weeks ago and the quote was $1200. That's a new bumper, painted to match, the plastic padding under it, and bumper metal railing. Also included is a 4 wheel alignment. The damage wasn't that much, just cracked the bumper a little so I'm surprised it's that much. The other insurance sent me a check for all of it, plus $500 in diminished value funds. I wonder if I should get it fixed, or live with the small crack and $1700...

well -- the cop came out, but officially there is no report except for some "blue form" thing we have the option of sending in. I got in touch with the "fat bitch" today and told her I will make my decision on filing a claim after mazda gives me an official quote. She told me that since there is practically zero damage to her car if i dont send a claim in, neither will she.... apparently another reason she doenst want to sendin a claim is b/c she has had a clean driving record for 10 years and its just paranoid about doing a claim.

I talked to a guy (the same dude at Freeman Mazda who did work for me in the past) and he remembered me. He was SUPER helpful and gave me reccomendations on what to do. I told him the situation and my thoughts and he said once he can physically take a look he can let me know exacly how much. He said the plastic exuast thing was 48 dollars (no big deal), the left rear tail light is $220 dollars... ouch, but also managable. The big factor is the bumper, the tech guy said, to fix me up 100% new would be $980 total (including the plastic exaust thing and tail lights) all labor cost, paint, and taxes.

There is a chance that they can use some kinda dent repair method on my bumper (wont know till they see) and im optimistic about that because there are no *scratches* on the bumper or the paint, its just a bigass dent. (the fat lady's bumper was that soft *** gun-metal plastic, i think thats why there are no scratches) Assuming they could fix me up with that, it would only be 200 or 300. Putting total cost right above 500.

Anyways, thursday I will know... it's a shitty situation but from my perspective, I would rather just pay 500ish dollars on my own and not even worry about her, or insurance, or anything like that, and just walk away from the situation.

The main reason I'm thinking that is due to the fact its both our faults, or whatever, and the fact there is no official report to back up either side of our stories, if i can make it go away for 500 dollars id be happy. Small claims court, i would lose more money by actually taking the time to do that then just paying for it myself.

Oh well, I would take pics but i dont have a nice digital camera with me, ill snap some pics with my camera phone tommorow and post them for all you peeping auto-pervs.

After reading your post it sounds like you are a rude retard and I hope you pay every dime it costs to fix your car, or drive a wrecked rx8 that would be even better

wtf is your problem? are you like the loser piece of **** kid in elementery schools that comes around and kicks someone when they are down?

oh well, I feel better now because I know you will die at some point in the future

Oh yes, and you obviously do not own an RX8... I have hung around here long enough to know that generally I wouldn't expect another 8 owner to treat another 8 owner like such. Take your hate elsewhere.

You only reinforce the fact! If you could just be polite in describing a problem I would be sympathetic, but unfortunately you attack people. I am sure being a fat bitch was the reason she hit your cute little car.

dont be so sensitive... or you wont get a kiss on new years eve (from me or anyone!)

oh and by the way, I feel much better about the situation (with what happend earlier) so I'm cranking up the sarcasm w00t!

that's funny I hit a raccon too, but just my squirt got ripped, cost me only $300 to get the part and replace it.
1 month later a retard in a SUV with metal bar in the front rear ended me. Rear bumper and 1 tail light had to be replaced. He gave me the cash, cost me about $970 to get it painted installed and the tail light repaired.

Good luck with your insurance.

sorry to hear about your accident. im pretty sure it is her fault since she backed into you. you ought to report it anyway because theres a chance that she might. same thing happened to me when i was backing out of a spot when a huge van backed into my rear left passenger door (in a mazda millenia). they ended up paying for everything.

on a side note, where are you from? seems like your town/city is full of fat and ugly people.

If it was in a "shopping mall" do they not have survelliance? Maybe you can ask the security to find out whether there was actual footage on that day of the area that the accident took place. You do NOT want to get shafted, if the so call "fat" person reported it and claimed that you were the faulty party. Not to mention, as someone stated above, the police have the report, so it will likely be available to the insurance if that person took that route...

I know what you are going through though..at some point, I had a Nissan 240SX Fastback, and within ONE year, was backed into 3 times while PARKED!!! Lets face it..there are lots of people out there that do not know how to drive!! Lets not get me started ^_^ Now..if we mandatorily requires every driver to pay $3000 AND take a driving school course..it "might" improve their driving skills...that is what they do in Japan...and I don't see them doing those stupid accidents over there...they have no room to make em!! You should see how wide their roads are..or more like..how NARROW..

Why is it that cops always make the excuse that "they can't do anything about an accident report because 'it was on private property'?" I'm only guessing, but if someone was murdered on "private property" they sure as hell would do something about it. It's just pure laziness on their part.
