Wrecked RX-8, need help
Hey folks... brand new to this forum. Sold my 04 Civic Cpe EX MT (EM2) a couple of weeks ago. I have been looking into an RX-8 since and today purchased a salvage 05 RX-8 MT from an insurance auto auction. The vehicle is on its way to South East Florida from Austin, Texas. My timeline is to have it ready to drive in about 3-4 weeks. These are the pictures of it at the yard:
I know the general pieces that I need. For the hood, I am looking into the Veilside D1-GT. Pretty much about $510 plus shipping for the fiberglass one. However, I have heard some bad things about fiberglass. Anyone know if it is worth buying? A quality piece? Should I just stick with the OEM hood? Also, anyone have pictures with one on a car?
For the bumper, I would like the MazdaSpeed bumper but I don't want to spend $1,400 on a bumper, so I am looking into the replica. Anyone know who makes a quality replica MazdaSpeed bumper? I am guessing it would be best to buy the urethane one, but there are many different manufacturers and I am not familiar with their quality. Any pictures of a good replica on a car? Also, do I need to do anything to the openings on the bumper.
Also, I am a fan of fog lights. I believe there is a bracket that can be added to the MazdaSpeed bumper to add the fog lights correct?
As far as fenders go, It is up in the air right now. OEM? Headlights will be OEM for sure.
Thanks for all the help you guys will provide. This will cover my many sleepless nights now. More pics to come when the car arrives this weekend.

Not a bad car, it just looks like the bumper got ripped off. Is the frame true?
If you do something like a mazda speed bumper, will probably want to do the rest of the car... skirts and etc.

Yea, that's a bit much. But you're saving a bunch if you're going with knock off body parts and doing the work yourself. As long as you're pleased with the results, then it's not so bad.

I see. I don't think this one has a sunroof. Either way, I don't think it matters much either way since the front end is gone and the powertrain is identical (sans the t/c and dsc options).

Get the real mazdaspeed bumper. Alot of people on the forum had replicas and they tend to sag over time. Plus its already painted and ready for mounting. The headlights will set you back a good bit of money. Other than that if you've got the money and time... Good luck.

This one is made of urethane... a little more expensive, but i would think the fit is better....

Me basing my opinion that Accolade fitament is horrible is warranted because they put out a product that needed to be majorly modified to fit. Post proof of the fitament being near perfect like Shine's cause you won't be able to show me anything. So I would love for you to show me some RX-8s that got there product and didn't have to do major modifications to make it fit with the Accolade kit. I guess that is what you get for a product being made in Sri Lanka and there customer service used to horrible. I don't know how it is now because I heard they hired someone in the U.S. to handle there NA sales. If you are going to go via the Replica route then Shine is your best option. Google Accolade them you will see the unHappy Mitsui owners are that took in there group by.
