wrecked!

I was the victim of a collision earlier today. An old lady pulled out of a gas station on my left. She didn't even look. Her Buick Lacrosse struck my 8 at the drivers side rear wheel. There is damage to the rear door, wheel and rear quarter panel. I do have pictures but, flicker is acting weird and preventing me from uploading them at the moment.

Sorry to hear. Hope you're alright. The car can always be fixed or replaced. Do you think it's totaled?

The shop called me with an initial estimate of $4,800 but, this is only from what they can see. They still need to start taking things apart to see the extent of the total damage.

Everyone involved in the accident is ok... just shaken up a bit.

I hope that it is not totaled. Even though I do have gap insurance to cover the amount of the loan, I don't have enough money saved up for any significant down payment for another.

I will now go to see if I can upload some photos.

That's not as bad as I was expecting. At least from what I can tell.

Glad to hear you're okay! I'm guessing her insurance is going to cover it? Sorry to hear about that man.

If you were not at fault it would not be your insurance paying for the total, it would be hers.

plus... it doesn't look totaled to me.

Her insurance is paying for everything. They determined that she was at fault.

It is in the shop right now. They tell me that it will be no problem to fix.

Whew! Finally got the car back this morning! I am so glad too. You never really know how much you will miss an arm or leg until it's gone... that's how it felt with my 8.

Her insurance paid for a rental. They didn't have much to choose from. Got a Dodge Charger (v6) and I must say that I now hate that car. It looks ok but, has all the performance of and less visibility than my *cough* Buick Park Ave.

I believe the insurance company will write you money for the salvage.
