Wow..my AC is now FREEZING cold
Had my 5k service... and mention that at 90(F)+ degrees, it wasn't cooling enough.
They replaced the AC Amplifier, and wow..what a difference.
If you live in the south, like I do, and havn't had this done, do it! Its sooo much nicer!

That's sooooo nice to hear!! I am due for my freebie oil change and tire rotation soon and will request the A/C checkup. Did you have the AC amplifier on order or did the dealer just happen to have one in stock? These things have been backordered forever.....

If I understand correctly, there have actually been three versions of the 'fixes' for the A/C issue...
The first was the first replacement A/C amp which was not exactly successful... average in dry States and poor in the more Humid States... though better than the original A/C itself..
The second was used in all cars manufactured after 04/04 and works fine in dry States (I have this version of the A/C in both my '8's and they work pretty good in the heat of AZ but they are not so good at handling humid climates
Finally there is a new version of the A/C which Mazda have just started getting to their dealers for replacing older versions (This has been the main reason for the long delays in dealers getting the new parts in) and these ones really work well, especially in the more humid States.
Hope this clarifies matters a little.. If you have had the first fix done it might be advisable to get your dealer to try again with the new Version '3' amp.. as this does seem to fix the issue for those in the more Humid States.....
All info was provided by the Master Tech at Showcase Mazda, AZ who has provided to be a valuable source of relaible info in the past in ref to Mazda and service issues.

Just had mine in Thursday for 20,000 mile service and they are ordering the A/C amp for me. Since they are just ordering it now, does this mean I'll get the newest version of the amp, or will I still get version one because of my early VIN?

Canadian Lingo
My dealership in Hamilton told me I required an oscillator, perhaps this is the Canadian translation for an Amplifier.
They have already replaced the compressor on the A/C.
They updated the computer module and my mileage has improved.
Cheers !

mine on order
I was in yesterday for 1st oil change and dealer ordered my a/c amp no questions asked.
Said it was on back order until 8/30 but they flagged my car as "vehicle down" status and maybe get it next week along with my new oil pan, M flash and rear interior panel clips.
Also offered up rental car for that day without me inquiring...
Kudos to Post Falls Mazda Idaho

I gotta take mine in for the AC problem, it has been buggin' the hell out of me. When sitting in traffic it puts out warm air unless I sit there revin' the engine at something over 2000 rpm, wonder why I get such poor gas mileage? I have tried to track down the M-Flash thread to try and understand what it is, I have not been sucessful. So, what is it?

I have a newer VIN but the AC is on the weak side. No cycling, simply not too cold on 1 or 2 - did not ry higher cause the blower noise is too heavy. However, I think the compressor pulleys are guilty - if I keep the RPM above 3000, the AC is fine. I would assume that the high rev engine is not friendly to the compressor hence Mazda decided to put larger pulleys than optimal for cooling at low RPMs.
Just an observation... and explanation ;o) I wonder what the "amplifier" is really doing... is electric or mechanical, anybody knows?
