Not that I'm totally irresponsible but like I told her I'm a guy and I need to have a fun car. I also told her I work hard everyday and the car makes me in a better mood when I get to work and happy when I leave work. Simply put it gives me enjoyment in a monotonous work a day life.

exactly... unless they're helping you out financially (with anything except the wedding crap) then they dont have room to speak. If you're having financial issues and having trouble making ends meet, then I'd understand... but student loans are hardly anything to worry about.

No, in fact they knew I wanted an RX8 so they called a local dealer and told me about it. I was planing to get an '04 for a lot less money. So now they complain that it was too much and that it will be more money in the long run. So why did they help me locate this one then?

that's just odd then.
This is not supposed to be a statement against you or imply that you've made a wrong choice... this is just something to look out for. If any financial issue comes up soon, they will not shut up... based on what you've said about them, I can almost guarantee they'll just constantly remind you that it would be easier if you hadn't bought the 8. The unfortunate thing is that there really isnt a way to tell them to butt out where they wont take it offensively...

Well what's done is done. If you take the car back now it will end up costing you even more money now.....so that would be a very unwise thing to do from a financial standpoint. Enjoy the car! As far as I'm concerned, everyone deserves to have nice things that makes this thing called life more enjoyable!!!

Well just to be different I thought I would offer an opposing viewpoint.
Women are very concerned about security especially if they plan on having kids. She (and the family handing her over to you) want to know that you will not place your personal pleasure above your obligations. They need to be assured that you will not be skipping a mortgage payment in order to buy a turbo charger for the RX8.
As long as you can convince the girl and her family that you will not forsake your obligations for the sake of your own pleasures then you can still make this work.

Well I guess I can always just pay them lip service and say yes, Mmm-Hmm and then just ignore them. The issue is more with my woman that feels the need to tell her parents everything I say or do.
Anyway I am really enjoying the car and there's no way I am bringing it back.

Oh, and getting the newer model with only 20k miles on it probably IS a better deal (depending on how much more you paid), since it will have the full bumper-to-bumper warranty for another two years (roughly).

No question cuzzin. I can totally understand their concern for their daughter. I always put her first. The car is paid for and I just plan to maintain the car really well. It's just as much going to be her car as it is mine. She can't drive stick but she will be the co-pilot. She really likes the car too and says it's sexy. I just don't see the problem.

Well her parents drive one of those Pacifica suv's and I think her dad still has an Acura or something.
My woman drives a caviler though and has been through 3 cars in the last 2 years (accidents, mechanical problems).
So we should have at least one nice car in our family.
Also maybe she's scared because in her words "it's a chick magnet". I'm definitely not an ugly guy so maybe she's worried. Who knows.

That's most likely the problem. Girls always get that way when you get a new sports car. Or if you workout all the time or start to workout. They get all worried and start saying things like, "I like your body the way it is, you don't have to workout." It's all because they don't want another woman steeling you away. It just makes me want to hit the gym harder and cruise in my car longer.

Just to start out I really dig this forum.
First a little car background:
My first car was a '84 Chrysler Laser. For a first car it was very cool even though it was an automatic and had tons of mechanical problems. It was a turbo and it talked so it was a real fun car.
My second car was a '89 Trans-am. Again it was a pretty cool car but it was only a 305 and also an automatic. I had no problems with the car in the years I had it other than a broken door lock.
Ok third car was a big step up. I got a '93 RX7. I had to of course have a manual. The car was just insane to drive. I loved that car - it had performance and looks. I did have some major mechanical issues with the car though.
So next car was a '99 Honda Civic HX. I always liked Honda products since I was a teenager and had several Honda dirt-bikes. What the car lacked in power it made up for in reliability. With nearly 200k miles on it it still ran pretty good (and did I beat on that car)
So finally were up to my newest acquisition. I just got a '06 RX8 GT with 20k miles on it. When the RX8 first came out I wasn't sure what I thought about it (being a RX7 owner). Then about a year ago I test drove one. It was an automatic and felt like it was beat on so I wasn't impressed. So when I just found this one and test drove it I was amazed. Though it of course doesn't have the pep and speed as my RX7 the handling and smooth all around feeling of driving it is very exciting.
It did cause some problems in my personal life though. I'm about to get married next month and my bride to be (and her family) don't think it's a very practical car. There is of course more to the story but her and her family thinks I should bring it back. I said there is no way that will happen. So I might not get married now over my RX8.
I hate to say it but right now I love the car more than I love her.
Sorry for the book.

Boom instantly RX-8 came to mind as I have been following this car since 2003 when I first heard about them and read about the rotary engine.
One test drive later (and 1 impressed wife) I was a proud owner.
One question - is your two toned leather stock?? I didn't know they offered that on a gray car.
