Would You Participate in a RX-8 Buyback If You Need a Motor Replacement?
If you need a new motor because of the latest recall (anticipated recall), would you rather have a remanufactured motor or have Mazda buy your car back?

for all the money/time ive put into my car, probably not.
I have a few mods with a few more on the way. SuperCAT, strakes, tips, clear corners, mazdaspeed full suspension, and tower braces....
never really had any problems with the car, i just keep waiting for a good SC/Turbo kit to come out so i can get my *** to 300whp+

Yes, why would they buy it back? And why would I want them to?? My car has been a delight—and trouble-free. Mazda replaced the engine on my '99 10th Anniversary Edition Miata and I never for a moment thought they should offer to buy it back. After the engine swap it was as good as new. Hey, I've owned a VW Rabbit, a Honda Accord, a Fiat X1-9, three different Miatas and a VW GTI—and the 8 is my favorite car!
If the 8 was a lemon of a car plagued by problem after problem it would be good of Mazda to offer a buyback. But it's not.

A definitive NO. My car is new,, 6700 miles on it and what they would pay to buy it back would not cover the price I am paying for it. It would not be a sound business deal.
I LOVE THIS CAR AND SO DOES MY WIFE.

You know, this poll is really, if you think about it, rather unfair. I mean honestly, how many owners of any used car, given a choice between a new engine and a buyback, would choose the new engine?? Do you work for the Republican party?

That's my big fear, too.
In fact, I'm not confident that anything they do will resolve the issue.
Some may say "just wait and see," but having a remanufactured motor carries a certain stigma with it apart from the lingering questions of reliability.
