WooHoo. Bought an RX-8
Well, after 3 years of looking and waiting, things finally fell into place and I was able to buy an RX-8.
I managed to find a 2004 with 9700 miles on it and bought it for a pretty decent price (under 16k)..
Cheap enough that I was able to buy an extended warranty (an extra $1000) so I will be covered for 6 years or 'till it hits 100k miles.
My 8 is velocity Red, which was the only downside to me.. I had wanted black or Grey..
It's not that I mind red so much, except that it is now the quintessential 'little red sports car' and I am being inundated with 'mid-life crisis' jokes (I am 35 this dec.)
A small price to pay for a sweet car, at a sweet price.
I still need to buy some snow tires and a ipod kit for this baby, and my automotive bliss will be complete.
I spent quite a bit of time lurking here, learning the in's and outs, ups and downs of the 8 before I went ahead and bought one. So, many thanks to you guys for the wealth of information.

Thanks guys.
Im in St. Charles, IL.. About 50 min. west of Chicago.
I'll get some pics posted later on.
The floor mats and seat covers are an excellent idea. I hadn't really thought of them before.
I'll have to put them at the top of my list.

Good luck with the iPod kit, if you find a good one let me know, best I've been able to find is an iTrip, which is nice, but since the car has no external antenna it kind of sucks, really stacticy unless you sit it up on the bashboard or really close to the CD player, too far away from that and you get nothing buy white noise.
I've been planning to going to hobby lobby and buying velcro for the back side of so I can just stick it on my dash and drive without having to worry about it falling out the ashtray
Other than that though grats on the new car, good deal too
Red isn't so bad, I wanted a black trans am and ended up with a red on for my 2nd car. You'll love it as long as you take care of it and keep it clean

Thanks much guys. Anyone know if there is a way to check and see if all the recalls have been done to it?
I registered on mazda's website with the cars VIN, and IT said there were no required recalls... But I dunno if that is really accurate.
Do ya think I just need to take it to a mazda dealer to have them check it out?
Thanks!
