Wont start? :-/ normal?

Heey guys...

some times when i have been driving for some time and then stops the engine for a short time (1 - 20 min) it is having some trouble starting again? and today it wouldn even start i tried to times? then i waited for like 2 more min and it fired up no problems? :-/ ..

there is no problems what so ever when the engine is cold .. its only sometimes and only when ive been driving for some time.. is this normal rotary behavior or what? its been doing it since i got it.. and besides that i have no problems at all with it.. it runs and sounds very healthy.. :-/

Could also be that your car doesn't have the newer starter. One of the locals had the same problem and fixed it with a starter. There is a video of what it sounds like around here somewhere.

Could be the battery, too.

If so, it wouldn't matter if it's warm or not.

I am going to say you need new spark plugs. How many miles are on your spark plugs now?

That's easy to diagnose...do you have power loss in upper RPM bands?

Search for the battery/starter motor thread I started, b/c my car was having issues, although cold start, and the dealer replaced the battery and starter motor under warranty and it starts in a blip rather than a whir-whir-whir, now.

My car is also an 05 manual.

I don't believe it is coils, I have the same issue (when car is already warm, it takes more cranks to start, maybe like 10-15 turnover sounds vs 5-10 when cold). I have almost new OEM coils (<10K miles). Flooding is not the issue either because car is already warm.

My guess is the starter, since I still have the older one.

old style starter is very slow, you will notice a huge diff with the 15 min swap to fast starter. found mine on ebay for $14 I cant believe it! It's inevitable you'll need to have the new starter some day.
