Proclip for me as well, mounts off to the side of the radio, high enough to glance when incoming calls. Bluetooth earpiece to answer/talk. But never dial or text...might as well be out there DUI.

Proclip console mount is great and doesn't add another windshield mount to obstruct vision. I've seen people with windshield mounted GPS, Sat radio and phone.

I either keep it in my pocket or in the cup holder since it doesn't fit in the ashtray. Not exactly a fan of using the phone while I'm driving.

Usually between the shifter and parking break. Should get one of those pads though.

My phone use to go in the cup holder but now that I have a droid I got a proclip mount. Reason I needed the phone somewhere accessible was because I stream Pandora, DriodLive, Google Listen, etc over BT to my radio.

Ditto. I have a charger hooked up in the center console compartment so I plug it in there. I don't use it while driving though.

Sorry to rehash an old thread, but I would like to mount my phone on the center console between my right thigh and the shifter basically. The Panavise and Proclip mounts seem to prefer mounting on the right side of the radio, but ergonomically that's further out of reach than I want. Has anyone mounted their phone on the left side of the stick using one of the generic Proclip console adapters before? I use my Android for both tunes and navigation, but don't want to destroy the simple beauty of the 8 with a clunky phone up on the radio. LOL

I used this:

Amazon Amazon

I mounted it to the passenger seat bolt but I don't see why you couldn't use the driver's side. I had to install a second bracket to the about half way up the length to keep it from bouncing around.

Works perfect with my Grom.

I'm not sure where you would mount the phone to the side of the stick and not be bumping into it with your leg or hand.

Huh, I never thought of one of those coming from the seat bolts. If you get a chance would you be able to post a pic of that? I've never liked those snakes but if it ran the length of the console it might blend in fairly unnoticed.

Sure, I'll see about getting some half-decent pics taken today.

I thought that too at first, but literally held my phone there as if it was mounted there, and it never touched my thigh... and actually it was un-natural to move my leg over far enough to hit the phone with it. Now if I gain 40-50 pounds we may have ourselves an issue! In my previous car (Jetta), the right side of the radio was easy to reach, but in the "cockpit" that is our 8's, it feels less natural.

Here's my inspiration for this.

No room there either. I usually work out in the car on the way to work with my Tug Toner

Usually in my pocket, or on my junk. Then I get out and kick it across the parking lot with out thinking about it.

Then I think to myself, 'If I would just put it my pocket I'd be golden.'

I hate it when I do that.

Just get a bluetooth headset and put your phone in your pocket.

^yeahhh...i've played soccer with my phone a couple of times when i got out of my car....

i used to put it in my pocket but i've butt/hip dialed wayyyy too many people....which can be SUPER embarassing if you have your boss or a parent on your speed dial when you're on a date w/someone

...ask me how i know how that feels

I use that same mount. But I took out the passenger airbag light and ran it through that hole to a bolt back there. Its perfect! Does not bounce or viberate. You can see it in this video holding my AccessPORT.

Silver, you mentioned the console mount working in the 8. Do you have one of these on yours? I'm considering it vs the standard mount next to the radio.
