Windows Frozen... Help

So for most of us in the States, espically in the North east have or know about the recent wintery mix. I go to drive my car today, and the window wouldn't roll down. Both Driver and Passenger. They move a good 1/4 inch each but then stop. I believe they are frozen. Besides waiting for warmer weather. Any tips to prevent possible damage?

I mean hot water is probably a bad idea, but just room temp water?

Thanks

Any water at all is probably a bad idea. I would just turn the heat all the way up in the car and wait 10 minutes .

i wouldnt worry about too much at this point. the water idea is a BAD idea. when the water freezes, it expands and it could break something, as water was not intended to make entry into the door. keep the windows up and if you have a garage, park it inside. if you have a heater, even better.

Look along the window seal and see if it is against the window. If it is it is possible that you pulled some ice into the door when you tried to roll it down...but odds are the rubber is just frozen to the glass and the tension on the motor made it stop. You should be AOK.

Yeah, never put water on it.

I had a friend who did that, and about the third time he applied it, his windshield shattered.

Speaking of which, the morons across the street just shoveled their driveway and a walking path through a foot and a half of snow, then afterwards they poured hot water all over both to get rid of the remaining ice stuck to the ground. I can't wait to see one of them slip right on their ***.

I had an issue as well... It was on a colder night and had rain/sleet through the night. I went to get some food and when I was rolling my window up, it got stuck basically. Unfortunately I have to use my window to get into my apartment (gate card thing). I tried using it the next day (was like 70... stupid weather) and it was still broke. It would only go so far before it got stuck again. I ended up having to replace my motor. Hope you have better luck... my window could have just gone out for no reason but it was a cold night so who knows.

Alright guys, I was like thinking the whole time, Okay even if the waters unfreezes it. It is so freakin' cold that by the time it comes night, itll just freeze again.

Thanks for the help. Ill just have to let it sit then. Mom's car gets the heated garage
