To make an informed decision a panel beater would need to compare the skirt against the lip. Looking at it from where we sit it would be very close....

probably cover it looking from the outside, but you may see the gap looking down when you open your door. also, there may be some double sided tape not "making" in that area.

You'll still know that the dent is under there. Would drive me crazy. Either it's fixed, or it's not. A band-aid is just a band-aid.

order the kit first and find out. i predict that the sideskirt folds into the door jam like vertex and ings skirts do. if so, it would cover it.

Yes, I would have it fixed, and ASAP. (If for no other reason, so that I could, once again, sleep at night.)

man I've got a dent that's kind of in the same place only it's at the bottom. You can't see it at normal height. You actually have to bend down there to see it. I've wondered about getting sideskirts to "cover it up" myself. If the cost of repairing that ding is more than installing and painting new sideskirts, then cover it. If you plan on selling the car in the future, fix it. If you just want sideskirts period than cover it. Just make sure water can't get trapped in the possible pocket that might form.

Once you start rationalizing not fixing damage or wear on your car for the sake of ecconomy, you start down a slippery slope. I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I just can't own a car like this without doing everything in my power to maintain it in as close to showroom condition as is possible while still taking it out on the road. Call it pride of ownership, character, principle, whatever. If you're going to start letting dings and dents slide-by, or cover them up with a piece of plastic, you may as well just go get yourself some old Chevy or Hyundai.

Get the sideskirts, but fix the dent first. Anything worth doing is worth doing right. You seem like a classy guy, DJM- do the classy thing.

i hear you jethro, im just really getting frustrated with dents on this car and me having to pay money to fix it all the time. I understand no one else is but its frustrating. 2 weeks into owning the car last year a shopping cart went into the side of my car and dented the door. Then not long after that i noticed that someone had opened their door on my car, this happened twice. So i finally got it fixed and my car was all dent free and it looked nice again. Not even two weeks had passed and i was walking back to my car and i noticed a different, new dent on the rear fender. I now have this dent, two dents above both rear fenders. Dents on my hood and the rear bumper diffuser has been broken. The diffuser and this dent in this thread were caused by valet. I learned my lesson the hard way.
Its now going to cost me over 700 dollars just for the new hood, and going to cost for the diffuser part, and the other dents around the car. Its just frustrating when i know i was not at fault. I know im looking at around 1500 for it all to get fixed. That was my money for my knight sports kit and i am not at fault at any of it.

You feel my pain dude?

It covers it...might be cheaper to fix the dent, on the other hand...you can hardly see it and maybe not at all with those covers. Where'd you see those...they're pretty nice.

You said you are looking at selling your 8 in the future and getting a Lotus. Fix it. Keep up the resale value.
