Sorry, Zoom44, absolutely no offense intended. I know the FAQ is a work-in-progress and it certainly is shaping up nicely after sitting idle for so long. There's just so much knowledge and information on this forum that it seems like the FAQ has only just scratched the surface.
Your efforts on the FAQ *are* appreciated and it is a great service to our community of RX-8 owners, lovers and owner-wannabes. If you're comfortable being linked to, then who am to argue (with a Super Moderator)?

the 250 number quoted at that time was always preliminary estimated and subject to change. it said so on nearly al the paper handouts. if that one did not somewhere i would be quite suprised. it would be a mistake sinc ethe majority did have such a disclaimer. no production vehicle was ever claimed to have 250bhp.

I don't know how recent this addition is to the Wikipedia article, but I definitely found this interesting:
Tight!
Perhaps the most exotic use of the Wankel design is in the seat belt pretensioner system of the Volkswagen New Beetle. In this car, when deceleration sensors sense a potential crash, small explosive cartridges are triggered electrically and the resulting pressurized gas feeds into tiny Wankel engines which rotate to take up the slack in the seat belt systems, anchoring the driver and passengers firmly in the seat before any collision.

Who cares about the hp figure going down. The speed of the car doesn't change. This simply means the car is capable of such acceleration and speed with less hp and that's a goal of many auto makers.
Good article.
