Agreed the fuel savings aren't huge.....but...the RX400h is not available as a non hybrid. you have to get a 330 and the HP is CONSIDERABLY less...the advantage is that you get the HP of a V8 with the gas mileage of a small V6. The electric motors at each axle add power to the engine...so the gas savings is not the only benefit...

I love the way the 8 looks and handles. I have never owned a rotary before and I doubt I will again. Between the flooding, CEL's, recalls, low oil light problem, rough idle, bad gas mileage, oil usage and dealers that are the WORST, I just can't handle it any more. I have 3 other cars to drive, so the 8 is for sale.

I might miss it, but I don't think so. When I bought the car in August of 2004, I knew I was going to have a few problems since the car just came on the market. I didn't know I would still be having issues over 2 years later.

My dealership hasnt offered me much of a warranty when small things came up on the car. The A/C went out twice and I had to pay $1,200 to get it fixed for both times.

So I am trading it in next week for an 06' Tacoma X Runner.

I've loved my RX-8 and have had no problems with it -- it's the nicest looking, nicest driving car I've ever owned. I put it on the market because I just don't get enough chances to drive it. I live in the DC area, where traffic is horrific, so I can't spontaneously decide to go for a spin without worrying about whether I'm going to be standing still on the freeway waiting for some traffic jam to clear up. That's why I only have 5,500 miles on it after a year and a half (and why most of those miles are highway miles driven on Saturday and Sunday mornings).

I think selling a car is a little like breaking up with a girlfriend. It's an ordeal -- I'm already thinking about the things I'm going to miss. That said, I am looking forward to feeling a sense of relief when it's over.

Don't get me wrong, all up I love the car, but I like the idea of trying different cars every 3 years. Very keen to suss out a Honda S2000 as next option.
If visibility while driving is an issue with the RX8, make sure that you test drive the S2000 with the top up.

Well considering the fact that my car payment and mileage I put on the car are tax deductable in my line of work, I really don't care.
