why rx gods why!?!?!?!

i woke up this morning only to find my beautiful baby sitting on four cement blocks with all four rims and tires stolen off of it, just so happens i didnt park it in my garage the night before, i called my insurance company and to my surprise they sent out an estimator within hours, i wont recieve my actual estimate until tommorow , but i was told by the estimator that im looking at a 4000 dollar return, any ideas on what kind of rims i should go with, im looking to go with aftermarket rims instead of the stocks, any suggestions, thanx guys!

I've always wondered... When people steal your wheels... they're actually kind enough to leave your car up in the air on all four blocks, to not damage it? :P

RotaryRider36 03-12-2006 01:13 AM

My recomendation...
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...mag_gun_lg.jpg

Kind of expensive but I love these wheels. Alot of people ive spoken with disagree with me, but I think they are sweet and if I had 4k, thats where Id spend it. Good luck with whatever you choose though. This is only my suggestion. Cheers!

RX-Hawk 03-12-2006 01:18 AM

Curious.....did you have the wheel locks lugnuts on?

blakew15 03-12-2006 01:20 AM

So it might be worth not driving a few days...if you get 4k to spend....not a bad deal

Fanman 03-12-2006 01:24 AM

Damn, $4K for stock rims ??? Go for some Enkeis if you want to race, or the MS units are pretty nice. And a set of wheel locks for $20.

Detrich 03-12-2006 02:26 AM

damn. a m sorry to hear this happened to you.

i've seen cars left like that b4 on the side of the road before. but, no the thieves are not being nicie. how else are they going to elevate the car at minimum cost? plus they want to get the hell outta there as quickly as possible...

NgoRX8 03-12-2006 02:34 AM

sucks... sorry dude. It's time to upgrade to some aftermarket rims.

yellowRX 03-12-2006 02:38 AM

Volk TE 37. 4k makes me wish my rims got stolen for that amount.

RX8Dragon 03-12-2006 03:30 AM

Hey, somebody come and steal my rims please.

Discman2 03-12-2006 08:13 AM

Wow... 4 grand?

I want someone to steal my engine. See how I get from insurance. Hopefully enough for a 3 rotor. : :D:

SomeGuy_sg 03-12-2006 08:30 AM

Fuck the expensive rims. Buy a gun.. A BIG GUN.. And if that another SOB try that shit again. You put enough holes in him to make him look like a door screen.

They were stock rims? If they were, dont get you hopes up on 4k. Insurance companies dont just give money away. Not when they can get rims for < $350/ea.

Sorry that you got ripped.

$4000 for stock rims and tires is fucking ridiculous. at MSRP you're talking $2500 MAX. I'd really be surprised if you get $4k back, and if so, please tell me which insurance company you use so I can switch.

yiksing 03-12-2006 10:31 AM

I think you should spend the 4k for garage extension.

9kandgoing 03-12-2006 12:11 PM

i didnt have the wheel locks on the rims, i usually keep my car in the garage but i f'ed up that one night, i live in Queens, ny

9kandgoing 03-12-2006 12:11 PM

i have state farm

9kandgoing 03-12-2006 12:13 PM

im lookin at 4000 back (3872.00) but after the deductible (500) i get about 34 back

ZoomZoomH 03-12-2006 12:41 PM

you got balls for parking a RX-8 IN QUEENS w/o wheel locks... balls i tell ya....

i'd go for BBS wheels, btw, they are absolutely hot

Wouldn't have mattered if you had them on there or not. If they wanted them bad enough, they WILL have gotten them.

XDEEDUBBX 03-12-2006 01:01 PM

I Could Use 4k..anyone Wanna Jack My Stockers?? Haha

Ike 03-12-2006 01:45 PM

Am I the only one that thinks this thread is a little shady?

9kandgoing 03-12-2006 01:54 PM

why would it be considered shady ike? four rims, four tires, tire pressure sensors on each rims factory installed, and damage from the four cement blocks scratching the rocker panel of both sides, thats not worth 4k? if not then i really think u should stop getting ur insurance from the local corner deli.....

Ike 03-12-2006 02:07 PM

Wasn't talking about the total you're getting back. I'm just being overly suspicious, don't sweat it and goodluck with your wheel search.

I would go with the new Work (XD-9 & XT-7) wheels if I were you, new to the market so not many people have them and they look awesome (unless you like blingy wheels).

9kandgoing 03-12-2006 02:15 PM

thanx for ur suggestion ike, i was thinking about the staggered look, 2inch in the front and 3 inch in the back , what u guys think?

chr1s 03-12-2006 02:53 PM

i would buy the stock rims and spend the rest on a turbo.

:D

Or maybe the tanabe TEAS suspension system

djseto 03-12-2006 03:08 PM

what he said. Stock rims with all new suspension work or some engine/exhaust mods

Krankor 03-12-2006 03:27 PM

I think you people are vastly overrating the amount of money he has to play with. Again, insurance companies aren't fools, if they are giving him $4k, then that's probably what it's going to cost him to put on stock rims, stock tires, and fix the damage he has. Everybody seems to be discounting that last little item.

Fanman 03-12-2006 03:33 PM

Ike, try leaving your EVO in Queens overnight. You might not have a car left when you get out there. Ha, ha.

tiggerlee 03-12-2006 03:33 PM

I've never seen an 8 on blocks. Could you post pics?

Hate to upset your beloved perception of NYC as a graffiti-ridden, crack infested jungle but, uh… no. It's not 1975 anymore:

Cities with the Highest Vehicle Theft Rates

1. Phoenix, AZ
2. Fresno, CA
3. Modesto, CA
4. Stockton-Lodi, CA
5. Las Vegas, NV
6. Miami, FL
7. Sacramento, CA
8. Oakland, CA
9. Seattle, WA
10. Tacoma, WA

Oh and where do you park in Glendale, by the way? Isn't that in California?

HolyCross05 03-12-2006 04:41 PM

^^ Shouldn't Newark, NJ be on that list?

BunnyGirl 03-12-2006 04:42 PM

Nope. Me too. Particularly since the car comes with wheel locks (at least mine does) so why would you take them off??

9kandgoing 03-12-2006 04:49 PM

i didnt take them off, they never came with my car, i was always putting off gettin locks for my wheels and eventually i payed the ultimate price, sorry if i dont sound so convincing to u bunny but i ultimately paved my own future by being lazy

In 2004, Newark was ranked #36 in auto theft rate. LA was #21. New York was #191:
http://moneycentral.msn.com/content/...ar/P127138.asp

Still, I know what you mean about Newark—I remember horrible news reports about auto theft there from 5 or 10 years ago. I guess auto theft, like crime in general, is something that really changes over time. I think I read that the numbers are greatly affected by how much of a drug problem (i.e. crack, for example) there is. I know meth is big in the west and is slowly making its way across the country. Still not big in NY yet, as far as I know. But its funny how our perceptions about crime in any particular city from years ago stay with us, even after things change.

BunnyGirl 03-12-2006 04:52 PM

Well, it's not that I didn't think it could have happened. It was the whole wheel lock thing. I know mine comes with wheel locks and I was under the impression they all did (thank you salesman) so that was why I was confused with your story. :)

oreo 03-12-2006 05:09 PM

If i where you I'd invest in the shock sensor upgrade for the alarm before looking into aditional upgrades.

I would really suck to get new rims, exaust, or whatever just to have the same @$hole come and take them. (He already knows that your car doesent have a shock sensitive alarm, and that you sleep deeply enogh for him to get away with taking things off right in front of your house!)

9kandgoing 03-12-2006 05:19 PM

that sounds like a good idea oreo , how much do they go for, or can i just turn up the sensitivity on my original factory alarm?

Ike 03-12-2006 05:50 PM

As others have pointed out your perception is incorrect. The theft rate in Milwaukee is actually much worse than NY.

BlueEyes 03-12-2006 06:47 PM

I hate to burst eveyones bubble, but wheel locks will hardly prevent a theif from taking your wheels if they want them.

Fanman 03-12-2006 07:09 PM

It was just a joke (hence the ha, ha at the end). I actually lived in NYC for over 2 years. Though I think in that whole time there I actually only saw about 1 car worth stealing. BTW, all those CA towns you listed above are all up north.

LA is the car capital of the world. Wouldn't surprise me if theft rates are higher here. Hell, I've had my car taken here before. Every big city has shady areas. I would leave my car in a lot of areas in the bronx or brooklyn, or parts of Jersey, just like I wouldn't go driving my car in Compton either.

Raptor75 03-12-2006 08:18 PM

I may be crazy but I have not seen a pair of rims I like better then the 18" OEMs. I think they fit the car perfect and would replace them with the same.

The only thing a lock does is keep an honest man honest. If someone wants into your ________ (insert, House, Car, Business, Warehouse, ect. ect, here) they are going to get into it regardless of what lock you are using.

I don't think you're crazy. I think the RX-8 has some of the nicest stock wheels I've seen.

Especially Stock......

Not to many cars have stock rims that look nice,i have been wheel searching for weeks and alot of aftermarket wheels look busted down and don't fit the RX-8 profile or lines.

I have seen a few Rx-8 with flush wheels , no lip and they look pretty nice, alot of the deep dish rims look kind of nasty on the 8 for some odd reason.

But i do like these....
http://www.rayswheels.co.jp/emenu/da...20_505/big.jpg

Daytona Racing 505 wheels

Which i think would look hot on my Sunlit Silver.... :ylsuper:
