why are rx-8s so expensive to have any help?
I want to get an rx-8 I love everything about them and I want to use it to drift. What is the expensive part? The parts or finding someone to work on it? And does anybody know of any places to get just normal parts for them and performance I want to race my rx-8, drift it to be exact and need help with all of this. And does anybody know a good place to buy one? So any help would be great

What kind of parts are you talking about? Suspension? Body? Engine?
Finding someone to work on most stuff shouldn't be any more difficult than other cars... it's just the engine that's significantly different.
You ask why? How many rotary engine cars are produced? How many piston engine cars are produced?

Also, I think any sports car that you race will be expensive to have regardless.

Well I'm looking for just regular engine parts also besides the performance aspect and where would be a good place if you know of any places to buy the rotary parts I'm sure ill blow some of the regular parts also so idk where to get any of the engine parts. I'm sure it wont be to hard to find the body parts.

Get a cheap car to learn to drift. A 240 sx or something. Loads of parts. Cheap car to buy. And performance parts actually add power unlike the RX-8 "upgrades" besides FI.

Good/ cheap cars to learn to drift:
Old 240 SX
AE86 Toyota corolla (1985 -88 Corolla GT)
1st gen MR-2
Ford Mustang (any vintage as long as you have a manual transmission)
Your best bet though... a 1st or 2nd gen miata!
You want a cheap car with RWD and a manual tranny and you can't care too much what it looks like, because you WILL smash it against a wall learning how to drift.
You will use up a lot of tires, clutches & bumpers.
An RX-8 is not the kind of car you want to use to learn how to drift.
Not many mechanics know how to work a rotary engine, so those that do, can charge whatever they want to.

Ed Bergenholz ran a RX-8 in Formula D.
One of his biggest issues... Heat management (surprise, surprise)
This engine runs hot as it is... and sliding sideways you get even less airflow through the radiator (ED was running dual V mounted radiators, with fans running all teh time, and still was running into heat issues.)
Very expensive proposition.
