Not having one I can't say much..but everyone I work with loves the 4 rx8's sitting up at the dealer ship...I just hope there jealous when I get mine...:D

Jhouse 11-20-2003 09:31 AM

someone asked whats up with the g35 owners....it's simple i'm sure there is a sight much like this forum where everybody is talking all sorts of shit and gloating over their car.....it's called pride and when a person goes out and gets a nice car thats fast, fun, draws a lot of attention it just makes the head of the owner swell like a hot air balloon. just enjoy the attention from other competators because it wont last forever no matter what our pride might think.

alphapenguin 11-20-2003 09:35 AM

heh, it's very conceited of me to look, but when I look around to see if anyone is looking, i noticed that NO one really looks at my car. I only find myself rubber neck'n when I see another 8.

graphicguy 11-20-2003 10:19 AM

I find just the opposite around me....there are two 350Z owners that I see regularly on the road. They check me out everytime. They don't race.

One stopped me when getting gas. We chatted for a bit and got around to talking about street races. Like someone else said, he wasn't sure he could "take" me so we agreed it would be close and to just wave when on the road.

Of course, anything with a big spoiler is always checking out my ride...some "TRY" to race (with no luck) and others just give me the "thumbs up".

A couple of weeks ago, a guy and his wife were having their G35C valet parked at a restaurant. I pulled up behind him. He just nodded at me.

Funny part was, we both came out of the restaurant at the same time. I handed my ticket to the valet. He said, "your car is right in front" (which it was). The guy with the G35C had to wait until they got his car out of the "back lot". Talk about a frown from the G owner......

ROLF!!!!
an ///M roadster would eat you up and spit you out every way imaginable!

If he just 'kept up' with you, I gaurentee he wasnt racing.
Those are low 13 seccond cars that trap well over 100mph.

dude, the rx-8 is a quick and nice looking car, but it's not faster than a z.

The '8 would win. GTP is quick, but the '8 is MUCH faster. Just the specs... RX-8, 0-60 in 5.9 sec (better has actually be gotten) and the GTP, 0-60 in 6.2 sec.

??? really? how many Z owners have you talked to? and we all feel that way about the 8? i'm sorry, but the only thing you will hear most Z owners will consistently praise about the 8 is it's handling. stock for stock, with equal driver, it's just not gonna win against the Z in straight line acceleration. Z owners do not look at the 8 as competition and are more likely to race S2000s, Mustang GTs, STIs, and Evos. again, this is only about straightline. once you get into the twisties, then the 8 comes into the picture.

I had a black FD owner come up by me crusing down the highway...what a family we have! He loved the car and, hearing the turbos whine, told him how I am impressed with the last gen RX-7. I have had boxer drivers and definitely all that were listed on the original post checking me out and wanting to race but the 7 driver definitely was the most enjoyed respects.

I think that must be the one I tagged along with on the way home just this past Thursday! Lives around Elgin, maybe Lugoff. It took the Elgin exit off of I-20. I think it was a girl driving it. I was in my MX-6, just flogging it to keep up & I was drooling. Darn, those are nice cars!

Nigevellie and MorningWood, I wasn't saying it was. I was saying I "pretend not to see" cars that can beat my '8. And the Z owners are not SURE they can beat the '8 either, even though they can. No disrespect intended on the Z, it's a great car and I almost bought one.

But the '8 *WILL* beat a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP comp G...

Geek 11-23-2003 09:59 AM

Omicron.....Have you had this expercience with the GTP?????....I'm with you......But my buddy and I are really curious.....He owns a 2004 comp G....He is also on the gp owners forum...And I must say they are talking a little S%$# on the 8...not everyone of course but for the most part there calling the 8 a dog......

sup3rbad 11-23-2003 03:19 PM

Hollywood Blvd... I was surprised to have people checking out my car because, well, it's Hollywood Blvd they see lot's of nice cars. RX-8 is a star...

oh, we're sure, which is why we don't bother. i do want to see that 8 vs. grand prix matchup.

Geek 11-23-2003 11:54 PM

How many rx8's are running 13.5's....The gtp comp g already has quite a few people running those times.....90% of all mods avaliable for the 97 thru 03 grand prix will fit the 04.....And there's older gp running 10.5....How long do you think before we can start boasting numbers anywhere close to this...????

sup3rbad 11-23-2003 11:59 PM

Other car owners that don't know test numbers DO fear the Rx-8. C'mon the car just screams fast...

Yep, have a friend with one, which we have played with quite a bit. G Tech Pro timed runs, plus a trip or two to the local drag strip for some "real" timed runs. Also considered buying one myself, took the week-long test drive thing. Bought the '8 instead. But I can tell you definitely that the GTP - which is a decent car - will lose to the RX-8 in every performance measure.

350Z vs. RX-8

All I know is that every comparison road test I've seen from enthusiast publications to consumer publications rates the RX-8 better overall than the Z.

oh, well, i mean, if it's in magazines, then, i guess you're right. because, you know, it's a magazine. moving on, let's not compare, because they're just not the same kind of car. and definitely not marketed for the same people. i don't need 4 doors, or a backseat. i've got another vehicle for that. i'm sure you find it amusing to drive your 8. so go enjoy it. you bought your car, i bought mine. hooray for us.

cruzdreamer 11-24-2003 04:22 PM

Today a big expensive Mercedes and a Lexus!!!

madsenj37 11-24-2003 04:46 PM

Toyota Celicas, other Mazda miatas and rx-7s, everyone at the bus stops on my campus, Hondas of any kind, older men and girls my age (21). Ive been hit on while driving the car and while getting out of it. BMW and Nissan owners look but try not to look to hard.

mikeb 11-24-2003 04:50 PM

put it this way
I'm suprised when people dont check it out

Racer X-8 11-24-2003 04:53 PM

Yeah, that's right, mikeb. It's like, wow, I just had a bad day!

Jhouse 11-24-2003 05:47 PM

i went to test drive a 350z this weekend and all the stupid dealer had was auto's. i guess that was a sign to just buy another Rx-8
