rember you can chirp a 'gear' (tires) if you have enough power to over-spin the tires and break traction, but you can also chirp if you not providing power at all, with 'clutch lock' but that usualy hapens when downshifting more than up-shifting.

Good call!

Nothing will slow a car down like dragging the drivetrain!
Whether by accident or on purpose. :D

How do you think my 8 would chirp against say:

1. 1969 Subaru 360
2. 1978 Lada Niva
3. 2003 Viper

i have been looking for a thread on this for a while i can remember people complaining about not getting a chirp from 2nd to 3rd i have 6k on my potenzas not badly worn i can chirp from 2nd to 3rd easily stock and if i have dsc off the car will kick quite a bit to the left it will also activate the traction from 3rd to 4th i almost never turn it off cause the *** end kicked out on me at 80mph once from my 3rd to 4th shift on dry roads
i did it once more just to see exactly what i did i shifted from 3rd to 4th at just under 8krpm (about 78mph) revved the engine to about 8.5k during a pretty quick shift
i actually get pushed back in the seat a little which is kinda fun
normally i just shift at 8500 with speed matched im sure its better for the car

I could do it with my car 6 months ago when I was completely stock (no exhaust or hi flow cat) and on stock tires. Its not terribly difficult. Plus I've only been driving manual for about a year. The variance of some people able, and some people that can't probably has to do with the fact that we seem to have a wide range of hp.

Complete stock 6sp. Chirps in third gear, can get it sometimes. Not too often but if I am really pushing it....9k on my stock tires. Of course once I hit the countywide speed limit I ease back and of course I only do this at remote locations on private roads. :p

When I was growing up my Cyclone 428 CJ and Cougar 351 Cleveland had sack ripping torque.

I think it is really sad to watch a generation who's mandate seems to be getting a chirp in 3rd gear. :p It almost has a pathetic undertone to it.

If you only knew what it was like to get slammed into your seat when a big-bore CJ opens it's mouth :D

I bought my 8 because it is a well made, finally balanced car that is a pleasure to drive. I didn't buy a dragster, nor do I pretend it is one.

Chirp. Tweat.

Chirps on command in third. Works best when I take it just before redline, hold for a second, and then pop the clutch. You can even get an extended bark if you catch it just right.

No mods that would effect engine performance. Stock tires. Always a $#!* eating grin.

Yes, isn't too hard. Very easy when speed shifting.

I didn't chirp mine. MY TIRES FLAT OUT SCREAMED!!! But, the clutch was fully depressed... the brakes were fully depressed... the car was slightly sideways... Damp pavement, and I was 2 cars behind an accident doing about 50 this afternoon.

I was in third gear, though. Does that count?!?!?

Remember the guy who posted in the lounge that got his automatic to chirp from 3rd to 4th thanks to how slowly the automatic transmission responds to shifts?

ok... again, im talking about just shifting quickly from 2nd to 3rd. no reving in between or going into reverse or engine breaking too quickly. just a simple up shift done quickly.

also for the record abbid, im no racer. ill do the ocational track day but thats about it. i hate drag racing cause well, i think its lame and i am certainly too old for the street racing scene.

i simply posted my question because i didnt believe it was possible or at best, it was extremely rare. but i guess that i was wrong. like i said, my car cant do it and i know what im doing. i get my car back tomarrow and ill see if R flash is worth the trouble.
